Hi from south central PA. I just picked up my 8th S&W tonight a performance center 637 enhanced. I just had my SIG 938 stolen sometime in the last 2 weeks and I decided to go back to my first love a revolver for CWC. After some research and wearing my bodyguard a airloom that was my mothers given to me a month before she passed and i do not want anything to happen to it I deceided get me another one to carry. I deceided on the PC637 enhanced and I love it. The only problem I have is I can not find the perfect defense load for it all the denim gell test show all are failures for the most part any help would be great. My smiths are my first smith a 17 k-masterpeice, 60 3", Performance center 627 8 times, 329PD, 686 3", 638 bodyguard, 547 3" 9mm what a awesome revolver, and now my Performance center 637 enhanced. I still want a short barrel 66 I just love 3" barrels. I have to say S&W are habit forming and I have always been a wheel man only own one semi now that my SIG is gone and not shure why I have it. My someday own a shield or just shoot my daughters when I feel a need to pickup brass lol. Widow

Welcome to the forum from MT. Regarding defensive loads, you can use the Search function to find what people like to carry for short barrel handguns. Lots of choices out there when it comes to defensive rounds. IMO, it comes down to what you shoot most accurately, and what load allows you to remain on target for rapid follow up shots. Lots of folks swear by Speer GD tailored for short barrel handguns. Hornady Critical Defense FTX is another popular choice, and it's what I carry in my snubby Model 60. I'm sure others will come forth with other alternatives.
