Joined the S&W crowd with a new cch gun. Wanted to get something a little smaller/lighter than my sig 229.

Nothing special...you've seen 1, you've seen em all.

Welcome aboard!

I have an M&P 9fs and 9c and love them both. Great pistols and I'm sure your going to love yours as well.

ksuchewie... Welcome. I too replaced SIGs with M&Ps. A P229-DAK with an M&P40 and a P239-DAK with an M&P40c. I haven't regretted it for a moment, although I sure wish Truglo made TFO sights for M&Ps.

By-the-way, you can buy finger grip extensions separately, and convert the supplied magazine without one if you like.

So, does that firearm shoot high with the barrel pointed up like that?:D

I read that somewhere with the writer being serious....

Welcome from Missouri! You just might enjoy it here, I know I do.

A new one

It's always nice to see a new M&P.

I think you have made a wise choice. I started with 40 FS and reading this forum caused me to get a 45 FS, and some other S&W goodness.

The M&P is easy to shoot and clean, and seems to like every kind of bullet out there. Mine is used for daily CCW, and is fun at IDPA in Topeka.

New from South Louisiana

I bought a 9C for concealed carry, I enjoyed it so much I am buying an M&P Pro next.

I have 2 M&P's now and a third on the way...will have the trifecta...a 9mm, 40 & 45.
My Full size .40 is what started it all....have over 12000 rounds down range in local matches with it and not one malfunction of ANY kind. Yes they are that good! congratulations on a fine firearm...be careful however, they are contagious...........

Welcome to the forum and nice gun. I still need to get me an M&P. I have shot one my buddy has and it ia great gun. I really like how it fits in my hand and the nice trigger pull. I'm sure you will get a lot of rounds and happiness with that gun.

Welcome

Thanks for all the welcomes. Gladd to see people are nice here unlike another forum that I've been lurking.

Where would be a good place to find those mag plates and those novak sites?

I have a feeling I may have a couple more M&P's in the future. I'm happy that I didn't purchase the other brand I was looking at.

Hello, greetings and congratulations on your purchase. I was explaining to a student today that I like to teach with the M&P because I can generally make small changes in his/her form without causing other problems. It's all in the ergos. Stretch your arm out and point at something in your living room. That same action will cause a hole where your finger points IF you're holding an M&P. They ergos are just that natural.

Be safe, practice hard and have fun. In that order.

I sent my slide to Novak and let them install them as the front sight is difficult to remove without the tool. They are really fast getting the slide back to you, I live about 200 miles from Novak, which is located in West Virginia. I believe they got it back to me in less than a week. I think they charged me 35 bucks for installation, plus the cost of the sights. You can get on their web site and check it out. By the way if you take the slide off the gun and just sent that to them you can ship it U.S. Postal Service, much cheaper then sending the whole gun, which means you would have to ship overnight express with someone other than Post office. You may already know Post office does not ship Firearms..........The sight on my MP are the Extreme Duty Adjustable rear fiber optics sight. If you go with the Novak, here is a tip for you. There is an allen head set screw on the left side of the rear sight. After you have loosen that screw and set your elevation and windage, put a small amount of BLUE Loctite on it and carefully snug that allen head screw. Do not shoot it until loctite drys, your then good to go. If you don't blue loctite that set screw I guarantee it will walk right out of the sight from recoil of the weapon. I have two guns with this same sight.
