New True Detective, Yea or Nay?

Watched the first episode of season two last nite and did not like it as much as season one, at least so far. We will see, but I felt like they were trying too hard.

I liked it, but I'm not going to compare it to the first one. I doubt the magic of that great season will ever be matched.

I like the Colin Farrell character - he got the best lines. He knows how to deliver a threat - I doubt little Aspen will be bothering the chubby kid anymore.

The whole tortured-cop thing gets a little overplayed in these dramas. I know a ton of cops, and most of them are regular guys and gals who don't carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. If you do, you don't last long.

I'll give it a yea, and hang in for some more episodes.

I was a big fan of season one; but I was careful to NOT compare.

I like the new one !! Glad to see Vaughn get out of that romantic-comedy rut he has been in for quite awhile. I recall seeing him in some early bit parts where he did a pretty fair job of being a physco.

I liken Farrell's character to a junk-yard dog, with ALL the smooth edges and sweetness scraped off.

I don't know yet. Could not get thru the first 15 min. I didn't delete it and will give it a try.
I did watch last season, but intend not to compare the two.
I think the intense character and realism is getting to me. I have found myself lately seeking a bit lighter fare in the mystery/police genre. Mostly foreign shows on Netflix.

I'll give a shot. Looks about as depressing as Season 1. The scenery and David Morse as an old hippie guru type will be enough for now for me to tune in again.

A bit early, but I'm hopeful.

I'm not a Woody Harrelson fan, but he nearly stole the show last season. I thought he and Matthew McConaughey really meshed well.

I was a bit surprised by just how buff Vince Vaughan is.

My hope is they won't try to match last season in the plot.

Really enjoyed the first series.
