I just ordered the newer "upgraded" M&P 15-22. Supposedly it is the one with the threaded on flash hider and the blue springs. Are these truly a newer version, and are they any more reliable than the original releases? Or just the same thing. I havn't received it yet(should be here tomorrow), and I have nothing to compare it to as this is my first 15-22.

Just curious to see if there are any differences in this one.

Thanks

My best answer would be to tell you that the "updated" versions do seem more reliable BUT i have seen errant reports that those have been sent back to the mother ship for repair also. More than likely you'll be fine.

Mine has been flawless, my gun doesn't like CCI ammo. Almost 2000 rounds and only 1 or 2 FTF that weren't CCI ammo.

Thanks for the feed back. I should get a chance to shoot it next weekend, so I will post up my review.

Which CCI ammo does your rifle not like?

CCI Ammunition - View All CCI Loads

Drill down to .22 long rifle and see all they make. My point is that they make some sub-sonic ammo and sub-sonic ammo is not recommended by S&W.

I have found that the MiniMags work nearly w/out fail in my 15-22. I've NEVER had a failure to fire w/ them and they have consistently more "bang" than the others.

I'm up to nearly 4,000 rounds in my "updated to current specs" rifle (the first 36 don't count) and it likes MiniMags the best.

I seen two different kinds of CCI Mini Mags at the local Wally World
Which do you guys use?
Mini Mag HV or Mini Mag HP?
Picking up my 15-22 today and would like to grab some ammo on the way back
Finally getting her back after 2 mags of FTF FTE and OOB that caused my Extractor to pull a David Copperfield lol

Sorry didnt mean to Thread Jack

But on the Thread Note
New rifles that are now out should have the sling mount built into the upper reciever and from recent post they all seem to have blue springs.

The M&P15-22 manual lists the following as good:
--CCI Standard Velocity --Federal American Eagle
--CCI Mini-Mag --Federal GameShock
--CCI Stinger --Win Super-X High Velocity
--Aguila Super Extra High Velocity --Aquila Super Extra Std. Velocity

The NOT RECOMMENDED list is:
--Remington Golden Bullet --Remington Thunderbolt
--Remington Target 22 --Win Wildcat
--Any and all sub-sonic brands and types

What would be the recommended ammo with a suppressor?

sub rounds will cycle with a can or atleast they have cycled for the most part with very few problems... the can gives the extra back pressure needed.. the cool thing is on these the gun goes chink then you hear the bolt close:D you gotta love that.. HEAVIER THE BULLET THE BETTER

Mines DTX, bought in Feb, has threaded barrel, no blue springs.

Aren't sub rounds not recommended by S&W?
