Hello all,

I am new to the forum and i wanted to know if anyone had been having the same issues with their shield i have. The main issue is when i load the first round the slide does not return all the way and sticks out about 1/8-1/4 in the rear. i have tried "snapping" the round in the chamber to no avail and it does not happen once i tap the slide into firing position and fire the first round. Any ideas? i checked the clearance with my rounds "Federal Premium" in the barrel and they fit fine?

There has been some talk of this so others please chime in. My take is it needs broke-in a bit. The mags are super stiff at first, which adds to the issue, they need broke-in as well. If it really bugs you or persists call S&W CS and speak with them. I believe this is not a real bad prob compared to some.

Welcome to the forum!

When you say "snapping" the round, do you mean you are fully retracting the slide (past slide lock) and releasing it (commonly known as sling-shotting) ? Be sure you aren't riding the slide home, if you use this method. Retract it fully, and let it go.

If that is not the case, perhaps try some different ammo...but since it doesn't seem to have a problem with feeding under recoil, I suspect it may be your technique on initially charging the pistol. (No offense intended.)

I assume you have cleaned the pistol, magazines, etc. Also, load the magazines to full capacity and let them sit for a few days.
