The SC decision is the worst thing to happen for gun owners in a long time. Outside of NYC, the remaining 57 counties in NY were pretty easy on gun owners. Some counties didn't always issue carry permits, but they never denied ownership of handguns. The cost was minimal, the process pretty painless, and in most cases, the permits didn't need to be renewed. Even the ones that did require it, it was simple mail in an automatic renewal.
Now crazy fees to apply, social media will be scrutinized(membership on this forum can deny you), mandatory and expensive training to get the permit, and renewals are no longer easy. You have to go through the application process all over again and pay all the fees. Not to mention virtually all public places are now sensitive areas, so the permit you finally got can't be utilized. The guy who legally carried for the last few decades now can't stop off at the supermarket for a gallon of milk.
And it will set a precedent that all other non gun friendly states will follow.
How anybody sees this as a win, is beyond me. Whatever legal challenges will follow will take years.
