Have been lurking for several years. Finally got around to registering and posting. I have been shooting since I was 8 but really actively shooting for only the past 6 years. Something clicked and I became concerned about home security. I took the NRA handgun course, took an intermediate course, joined Frontsight, and now have my own private range (benefit of country living) that consumes ammunition regularly. I prefer revolvers to pistols, shot guns to rifles, but shoot them all. My favorite handgun is a 625 JM. #2 is a 6.5 inch 629. Like big bores. Best home defense weapon is a Weatherby SA459 in 20 gauge. Most enjoyable rifle is a Savage Rascal .22LR real bolt gun shot by my grandsons. They are not bad. The 6 year old would not shoot the balloons. Paper target was good enough, lets play with the balloons. OK by me.

I have found the information here very helpful. Don't think I am in the same league as some of the posters here but I learn every day. I'll try to keep to the rules but you never know about those gray hairs.

I try. They would rather watch videos about Minecraft and watch Sponge Bob than shoot. I'm not going to ruin it by forcing them. Maybe as the weather improves they may want to shoot a bit more. They are good for 20 minutes or so. I remember as a kid spending hours with first a BB gun then a .22 Benjamin (which I still have and use). But we did not have internet or cable TV.

Welcome from Wisconsin. Have to admit that I envy you having the property to have your own range. That would be fun.
