NEWBIE - M&P15OR??

I went with the Magpul MS3 Sling in the Coyote Color. I had a gift certificate at a LGS. It was $59 + tax. It is a two point or one point sling. Haven't used it yet, but will once I get my MP15. Currently on my 15-22. I did have to get a QD Mount from Magpul that went on the front hand guard. My 15-22 has the built in QD in the lower on the Magpul MOE version.

+1 on the MS3 sling. I've got several that I use for single point carry, but it can also do a two point carry due to the flexibility of the design.

I've got the OR model as well - it's a solid platform and don't think you could go too far wrong, but there is additional cost for sights, be they iron, optical, or both.

I went into one of the local gun shops and showed them the Cabela's sale price on the OR model. They matched it so I was able to get it for $850, very happy with that. Especially in today's market. While I was there they brought out some cheap irons that a previous customer had returned because he didn't like them, I talked them down to $30. And they are iron so I can mount on the gas block. Cabela's is also running a sale on the TRS-25 for $70. So for about $100 I'll have a red-dot with BUIS. Can't wait to get out shoot it this weekend.

Turbo I really like the look of that rail. What kind is it?

I'm pretty sure it's a Yankee Hill Machine rail. Back then, I was new, didn't do all my upgrades myself... It's what my smith had, he was a dealer for YHM. We live about 20 minutes from YHM. Now, I pretty much use all Diamondhead stuff..

Came across a good deal on a surefire fury tactical light today. Has anybody ever used one? Know much about them?

I carry a ShureFire "Lumax, 2 stage, Cree LED" for over 4 years and I'm on my 3rd battery.

Small, rugged and just as bright as a 5-D cell head knocker LEO light.

Use it constantly, day or night and when this one goes out, I'll be getting another.

I don't think so. The front block is too bulky and wouldn't fit inside a free float quad rail. If you stay with a carbine length quad rail you wouldn't have to worry about it since it doesn't need to cover the block. You would only run into problems if you wanted to go with a longer rail. The only option I can think of would be to run something like the Troy Charley or Delta rail. They have a cut out to allow the stock front block to work.

This is the Delta on my Sport. Charley is a quad rail design.

Is that the MBUS Pro?

Nope just the polymer one that comes on the sport. I may switch it out at some point but it gets the job done right now.

That's what I have on my OR, but I can't mount the front sight on the gas block so it's back a little on the rail. Looks different but it works. Again, I just wanted to make sure it was normal for that rear sight to not lay completely flat. Thanks.

Ya I have just a hair of a gap

Billyjack... Was the gas block welded? I've read on other boards that it is??

Pinned but a pain to remove. A good hammer and a few hard whacks to get it started and finish with a STRONG steel pin punch.
