newbie question??

Hello all new to the forum and new to revolvers, quick question I just recieved a S&W 686-2 w/4" barrel and when I open the cyclinder for loading there is a fair amount fo front to back play is this normal? My dad gave me the gun and he has only put a few boxes of rounds thru it, it shot fine but as I was cleaning it today I noticed the cyclinder play and was curious if it was a problem. Thanks for the help

Yes, that is normal when the cylinder is in the open position.

That's not good when it is closed though.

That is the norm, its when it does it with the cylinder is closed when you have a problem. Welcome to the forum, you can't find a better place to hang out.
