I think I have just found out that Scott Volquartsen of Volquartsen is about to unveil a brand new carbon fibre barrel for our beloved 15-22's....shot show 2018 I think is where...do not know yet when. Nothing on the VQ website yet.

Wow....and as far as I am aware....we still have a contact in the UK that deals with VQ....so we won't be ITAR controlled.

Anyone with any info get back to confirm....and the first one to get and install and shoot one....a video review please

Cool? What does a carbon fiber barrel provide that the oem steel one doesn't? Accuracy, weight, cool factor? Options are great for those that desire such items but my 15-22 is a plinker and I don't think any accessory or mod would change that for me.

Accuracy, weight, cool factor...yep. Plus it gives longevity to the rifle....I highly doubt I will be able to shoot out the 15-22 barrel in my lifetime, but my children will be able to benefit from it ;)

It is nice that there are options as you say....and good quality options at that. For those of us who don't abide in the land of the free, where AR's are readily available...and .22lr are our main go to rifles, this brings joy to my heart. I use mine in competitions and have tried everything to squeeze out every bit of accuracy, if this barrel helps or assists in doing that, then as Jean luc Picard would say......'make it so'

Not the same however, ..... Volquartsen Firearms Superlite 22WMR VC22SLR-H Semi-auto Small game and Varmint Buy Online | Arnzen Arms gun store MN

Accuracy, weight, cool factor...yep.
I shoot Rimfire Challenge with my 15-22's and a lightweight barrel would be a welcome addition. The light weight tricked out 10-22s I shoot against swing much faster/easier. I definitely want a light, accurate, cool CF barrel. I sent an e-mail to VQ. We'll see.

Glad to see the addition of aftermarket parts for the 15-22, now if they would just make a better firing pin. Only getting about 15-20k before failure....... :(

Tacticool 22 has you covered, new pins in the pipeline I think. Failing that there is a company this side of the pond who are making pins for the 15-22. Not sure if they are better...but they are available. :D

Odd comment from a guy who brags about the rate of fire he's (allegedly) getting with his slide fire...

There's always one and it's usually that guy. Also, there is nothing to stop you swapping your old barrel back in if you encounter any issues. Plus I highly doubt a company of Volquartsen's repertoire, who are known for their top quality barrels, would jeopardise that by building an inferior quality, problem prone product.....unless they are in cahoots with appleseed....dum da dum dum

I for one have already contacted the uk dealer with Scott to express my interest. What was that internet meme. Well that's me ;)

Rumor confirmed. They're supposed to start shipping mid Feb.

16.5" barrel with the usual 1/2-28 threaded muzzle. I have one on order.

Yippie, have just had confirmation as well....also just had a chat with my man over here and he is in talks with Scott, regarding import licence and is willing to go for the extra licence if they will not comply with his already agreed 10/22 barrel import licence...sounds complicated but he is keen, just waiting to hear what Scott replies....I also have put in an order....don't tell the wife ;)
Nice to know we wont be left behind due to ITAR.

I totally get it for those who are into competitions and want a lighter barrel to swing around, but as for the idea of less wear and longer life I am a bit confused.
Has anyone actually had or heard of problems with the 15-22 barrel wearing out?

I haven't and don't expect to. That wasn't a consideration for me ordering the barrel. For Rimfire Challenge I want a rifle that swings better. A pound plus lighter barrel is a big difference and I need all the help I can get.

Bassnuts is always looking to stir the pot pay no attention to him. I have said all along the interceptors work best with my slide fire then somehow after arguing other brands he comes to the decision all on his own.... what a mystery. Lol

So how do I order a barrel and whats the cost?

Tom: I'm not worried about warranty ,I have never sent anything back for Warranty and never will!, I have 4 15-22's

That comment was directed to those who are always complaining and saying "send it back"
The guys who think that play gun is something it isn't

I just ordered one this am. There was no note of out of stock or back order on the sale listing on the VQ website nor on the order confirmation email I received after completing the order. Hope they ship soon.

My actual sales order/invoice? (the attachment you download from their order confirmation e-mail) says: "*No payment captured. Item currently backordered. de". In the e-mails we exchanged before I ordered I was told they planned to start shipping mid Feb. One loooong month from now.

Maybe not what you wanted to hear but I hope it helps.

'*No payment captured / One loooong month from now.'

Seeing as though this will be a long haul for us this side of the pond, import licences and such, it will be closer to 6-12 months before they arrive over here, plus the obligatory price hike. (speaking of which what did they not charge your CC to the amount of?)

I will be expecting a detailed review with sexy pics after you have installed and tried it out ;) Whet my appetite. :D

I had read your post before placing my order and was fully (and still am) expecting a back order situation. It very well may be wishful thinking on my part that they will ship soon. However I was just stating that I didn't get the back order notice on any of the correspondence and they did fully charge my card.

I will report back if and when I get a notice of shipping.

USD $331 + $15 shipping. Price is shown on their site.

Interesting. My CC was showing a $346 "pending" charge which isn't there now. They had said I wouldn't be charged until the barrel ships and the invoice reflects that.
FWIW I did specify i wanted a "sport" chamber.

Will do Ghost. I just installed the new aluminum fore grip from tacticool22 and a gazelle 3G trigger. I am anxious to have the whole combo together with the new barrel. There do seem to be a few pics up on the VQ website that I don't recall being there a few days ago.

Tomcat, I didn't know you could request a specific chamber. Do you know what the standard chamber they supply?

Also does anyone know what diameter these barrels are?

I'm assuming it's like their other barrels and it's a match chamber and you can specify you want a sport chamber. They seem to kinda keep that a secret. It's also THEIR "proprietary" sport chamber and not as big as what is usually called a sport chamber.

I called and asked after ordering the barrel and was told the barrel is .750" OD.

What is the difference between the match and sport, in real terms?

Bigger diameter. Easier for rds to chamber and they get free of the chamber easier so they eject more vigorously. The sport chamber makes for a less finicky more reliable gun. It's what you want for things like rimfire challenge, steel challenge, bowling pins etc.

So the match chamber is more tight fitting and harder to eject, for more deliberate accurate, slow firing?

Is this barrel going to be a big difference accuracy wise? more so with a match chamber? would a sport chamber offer less accuracy but more reliability? Learning new stuff here....I'm all spongy ;)
