I have a model 37-2 and a model 38. I am looking to expand my small j frame collection. I am overwhelmed by the number of j frame revolvers. I am looking for suggestions for the next one. Right now, I am thinking about a 36 flat latch or a 34. Thoughts?

Thanks,

Don

You definitely need a Centennial.
A M442 or M642 in .38 Special, or a M640 all steel .357 Magnum, M340 PD or M340 M&P in the Airlight Magnum.
Everybody needs at least one.

I have a 340 M&P that is my EDC and IMHO the best thing to come out of S&W in quite awhile. I don't collect or have safe queens, but do have other small Smiths & Colts that I carry from time to time depending on circumstances.

Good hunting and please post pics when you have the time.

I'm not into safe queens either, though I certainly enjoy the look of a classic pristine revolver. All of my handguns see hard use. The 442 pro interests me.

I bought the first one for $409. I bought the second one for $350. I imagine if there's a new one in Lakeland this weekend for $350, I'll have another one.

36, 37, 38, 49 sounds fun, then go for their SS counterparts in the 60, 649 then go hammerless 40, then get the 22 versions then the pre models and SB's and target site versions, then the 3 "ers , 4"ers and 6"ers .....

I have a 642, for EDC. But this year, I started collecting Chief's Special models. So far, I have been buying the best condition J frames, that I can find. However, if I find a 3" model 36, or pre-36 Chief's Special, I would buy them with more wear.

Don't forget the Models 30 & 31... you need those 32 calibers, trust me! ;) I'd go with a 2" Model 30 and a 3 or 4" Model 31 if I were looking for balance, or both snubs for ultimate cool. BTW, you do have to have a 36, it's some kind of law, I believe.
