Next time someone asks how much an early 29-2 is worth...

These early 29's are starting to approach the prices that the Pythons have been bringing in.

Someone here predicted it a while back the s&w prices would catchup to the python prices and why not?

I went into an antique gun show once. It was all black powder history. I felt like I just drove my jap bike into a Harley only show.
Being a military collector I was out of place.

It made me think will the price gap between the military guns which aren't being manufactured anymore being the orginal war horses aren't much different than the black powder guns. Ok the BP guns have about a 200++ years more of history behind the military stuff. But now the gap will be bridged between the older c&r & antique modern turn of the century guns too. I say in just a decade + or so all the prices will be close. The BP stuff will still cost the most. But who knows how high our prices will go.

Now should we ccw carry these future treasures or buy a brand new s&w revolver now to ccw carry? I'm going to get a new one to ccw carry.

Well, well, well....

Many of us here know exactly who the seller is. Mark the name down for the future if you don't want to be ripped off. This seller is a former member of SWCA.

All that said, waste no sympathy on the buyer. We all do crazy things and throwing money away is one.

The sad part is if the buyer wants to make the 29-2 "correct", he will have to spend another $600 plus to purchase the correct stocks, case, and accessories. Even if money is no object, a person should want to purchase a collectible that is correct (unless the description covers the aspects of the package that are incorrect and the buyer doesn't care).

I do love GunBroker though; guys buying old guns insist GunBroker prices are too high, shops selling new guns insist GunBroker prices are too low.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the seller; the bidders drove the price up. To insinuate the seller ripped anyone off shows a misunderstanding of how an auction operates.
I believe the question of dishonesty on the seller's part has been raised because the 29 in question was specifically advertised as factory original -- but the stocks, presentation case and tools are incorrect for the revolver. Those are big deals at the collector level. The seller, because of his history with SWCA, it is presumed would know that he wasn't selling a complete, factory original item, despite his write-up saying otherwise.

Well, well, well......maybe I can move these on GB and buy, what, a couple Registered Magnums? :p

(Two 4-Screw 29's and an early -2)

Don't fool yourself,99% of the time when someone tries to ride the wave of high prices they get about half of the previous auction amount. It is just the way things work....

didn't say I was gonna do it :D

The seller was trading on the ignorance of the bidders. And somebody got into the "I gotta have it" mode and the price went up from there. I feel bad for the buyer, since he/she could have gotten a much nicer deal by shopping around........caveat emptor.

Whatever you do Kris, don't buy a Registered Magnum from "The Illlusive 33"... Especially if he says it has the box.
His seller name, of course, literally means "deceptive". I presume he meant "elusive" and didn't know the difference, but if not, wow is that a big hint he's giving.

Too bad for the buyer to believe all of the inaccurate statements that well known seller put in his description.

Someone obviously changed out the valuable coke grips and the box too. Even if the seller wants to return it, he'll be dealing with this sellers stated policy - Inspection Period / Return Policy Unspecified

Maybe the buyer will see this thread and refuse to complete the deal with The Illusive (more like as stated above Elusive) one.

I thought that Ol' Illusive was banished to the "basement of unused tools" and forbaden by the Gods from ever again uttering the words "Smith" and "Wesson" in the same breath... Must be somebody left the cage door in gun collecting hell open again...

Even the competing bidders look suspect...DirtyHarryGun$ales did the most to take it up to that level.

I realize the people can come up with and use any user handle they want, but... really?:rolleyes:
