NFL Football?

I am an Auburn (college) football fan, but kinda of a casual one.

I do enjoy re watching Alabama whup Notre Dame in the BCS back in 2012 I think, or carrying Michigan to the woodshed. Watched the Auburn/Missouri SEC championship recently, it was the sloppiest, ugliest, game I think I have ever watched.

No NFL for me at all.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

i will be watching pro football.....as soon as Butkus, Unitas, Deacon Jones, Jim Brown, Harold Grange, Lynn Swann, Paul Warfield and a few of my other favorites are on the field.....

Ya,,,,,,,, them were the days but I'm sure most of them would be kicked off the field nowadays before the first quarter was up. ;)

When I was young, I watched NFL games all the time. When I had to go to bed, I would listen to games that were broadcast on the radio.

As I grew older, I still watched the NFL as it became a reason for social gathering with friends. However, the business model and the product being delivered (entertainment) was evolving. We began to see the signs of the future of the league:

Huge player contracts......Huge

Players disputing contracts by not showing up to camp

Media attention for players like Terrell Owens....great player but acted like a professional wrestler

Super Bowl half-time shows that became the main event (wardrobe malfunction - really?)

I could list many other factors but my point is this.... the political statements being promoted by the NFL are just the latest indicators of changes to the league (product offering) that have been evolving over 20+ years.

The protests during our National Anthem simply became my stopping off point. I get emotional while watching our flag during the anthem. Like many others, I have lost friends who have died defending our nation and our right to freedom.

The NFL can continue on with its evolution, however I have moved on without them, as I no longer enjoy the product.

Lifelong Steelers fan. When I was a boy in the 70's they were a dominant team.

Lived in Pittsburgh for a while in the late 80's. They were awful. But I still rooted for them.

Now, they are again a dominant force and 9-0.

I don't agree with the kneeling.

But, that is what it means to be free.

I may not approve of it, but it is their right.

I ignore the hype and enjoy the game.

That said, I miss the days of the Steel Curtain.

Football was much better BITD.

I don't see in either quote where they said they have never watched the NFL.

Since I was quoted, I'd like to clear things up.
I am not saying I have never watched an AFC or NFL game. While living at home my Dad controlled the TV. If I wanted to hang with Dad on football days then that was what I watched.
Now that I have full control of the remote there has not nor will ever be any level of football on, that includes the European football (aka soccer) too.

I think this is probably the position of most posters, and it's how I have interpreted it for this thread. I have never watched Masterpiece Theater intentionally since I gained control of the remote. But when I was a kid, Mom had the 9" black and white Motorola on it all the time, and since that was the only television, and it was in the kitchen, well, you get the idea. I also haven't ever watched the Hallmark or Lifetime Movie channels on purpose, and never will. Unfortunately, I have awakened in the recliner to them on the television, and I've been relaxing and reading while they were in the same or adjacent room . . .

And If you are old enough to remember the American Football Conference you know what I mean.
AFC balls were longer and skinnier than NFL balls.

Never a sports fan, either pro or college or anything else. One of my Iron Rules is that those who oppose my values-RKBA for this forum-get none of my dollars.
