A couple of years ago, we got fed up with the cost of satellite TV service (there is no cable available out here in Podunck, where we live) and decided to "cut the cord." We watch a lot of Netflix, Amazon, and DVDs. We also have DSL, so we can stream a number of programs. Like, my wife watches "The Young and the Restless" in the evenings, on the same day it airs, from the CBS site for free.

Lately, though, my wife has been very frustrated when it comes to football. (She's the sports fan in our household, not me.) We went through this last year, and were able to find a streaming site for most of the games, but the quality wasn't good.) So, after trying to watch a couple of preseason games, she asked me for a NFL subscription.

Does anyone here have one? Any recommendations? It has to be a stand-alone subscription, since we don't have satellite TV service...but we do have DSL. We live about 30 miles SE of Dallas, but we are just far enough out that we can't get anything with an antenna.

Is there someone that will let you put a Slingbox on their system?

My brother-in-law lives across the highway, and he might. I'll have to check that out. We are going to be moving soon, back to our home town to care for my wife's parents. It'll be nice to live in a city again, but the season will be over (certainly for the Cowboys :p ) before we move.

My only recommendation for an NFL subscription is don't.

My wife is the rabid fan in my house too. We get whatever games the cable company provides as part of our regular somewhat basic cable package.

I won't go along with paying anything extra to watch the games. Professional sports is the most ridiculously over-priced form of entertainment in this country - which really saying something since we are awash in over-priced, worthless, valueless, entertainment.

Most of the professional athletes being held up as role models are anything but. I wouldn't even consider doing ANYTHING that would put an extra dime in any of their pockets.

But that's just me.
