NHL STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS 2017

Well, my stinkin Flyers missed them this year so I can calmly watch the playoffs without worrying about throwing the remote through my flat screen.

I don't really care who wins, just as long as it isn't the Pens. I guess it would be nice to see the Craps finally win, but as in years past I don't think they'll get it done.

I have a feeling it'll be one of the Canadian teams that gets it done this year. They've got 5 teams in this year and God knows they're due.

You mean they're actually doing the playoffs again? I figured since the WINGS didn't make it they would just scrap it this year. Still gotta eat though. My conversion of an offset smoker to gas turned out quite well so maybe some hockey baby back ribs or a brisket this year. Hmmm, now who to root for?

Lifelong Rangers fan here! I used to go to the playoff games in the late 60's when Giacomin, Gilbert, Hadfield and Ratelle were the big names on the team.

I'll be pulling for my team though I don't think they have as strong a shot as in recent years.

That said, no one can take June 14, 1994 away from us!

Boy are you old if you remember the GAG line, I remember and watched Boston's YUKE line, Johnny Bucyk, Vic Stasiuk and Bronco Horvath.

Says the kettle to the pot! :p

Some of my fondest memories from back in the day are the classic fights with guys like Orland Kurtenbach, Reggie Fleming and Vic Hadfield (from the Rangers) against the likes of John Ferguson, Ted Harris et al from the Canadiens who were our arch rivals back then. (As they are again in the upcoming series.)

It seemed like every time we played the Canadiens in the playoffs back then it was four and out. :(

Those teams of yesteryear will never fade from my memory...at least while I have a memory. (Not quite old enough, just yet, for a Medicare card...but it's coming before the year's out.)

Of course, it goes without saying that the Bruins and Flyers replaced the Canadiens a bit later on as the "most hated" teams the Rangers faced.

You might want to root for the Caps. Whatever you do don't root for the Bruins.;)

Here we go Rangers, here we go ;):D

They will probably be yelling FOUR with the Boston Bruins after round one.;)

Bear with me

I am an avid sports fan but, shamefully lacking in hockey smarts.

As some of you know, Logan (9) started playing football last year and being a big, strong kid he is excelling at it and loves the physicality. This off-season, he has been engrossed in the NHL.

We are going to watch the playoffs together and he is already adding to my limited hockey lexicon.

I said we need a team to root for and asked if we should pick the Blue Jackets out of loyalty for Ohio.

He said "OK but I think it will be the Caps or Penguins."

I'm just going to listen to him and write what he tells me to in this thread.

Colour me suitably impressed.
