NIB 65-3 3" trade value?

I hate dealing with guys like this. I think you should be prepared to be disappointed. I don't know if you've ever owned one, but the 3.0 inch barreled K-frames are excellent. I'm lucky enough to own a Model 64-3, 13-3, and a 65-3 all with 3.0 inch long barrels. They are great handling revolvers. If it were me, I'd make him what you believe is a fair offer and be prepared to walk away if need be. This kind of guy can really make you burn the BTUs over nothing.

Good luck,

Dave

Never owned a 3", but have had two 66-1's, a 2 1/2" and a 4". Sold them both and have been kicking myself ever since. This came up and got my interest. But honestly, I have a feeling the guy thinks it's worth a thousand bucks judging by the wording in his ad like "collectors dream". I still may offer the PPQ, don't know yet.

I just picked up the same gun, with original box for 700.00. Was a private sale. Them 3" barrel are highly sought after.

I also own a Model 66-2 with a 2.5 inch long barrel - my first S&W, and my first center fire revolver. If you think the 2.5 inch barrel is fast and smooth handling, just wait until you try a K-frame with a 3.0 inch barrel. Amazing what that extra bit of barrel makes. By the way, I thought maybe it was subjective, but the funny thing is that switching CT Laser grips from the Model 66 to the Model 65 means you have to recalibrate the sights.

Good luck,

Dave

I picked up an almost new 65-5 back in January of last year in Ft Collins, Colorado. It came with the original box, fish paper, bingo cards, and cleaning kit for $500.
