Just saw an interesting nickel 39, 60353. Nickel controls and #box.
The letter states it left a blue steel frame and shipped back to be nickeled.
Apparently owner had a service manager buddy. AH!, the good ole days.

I'd be interested to see if the box has a rubber stamped date in the top like my nickel steel frame, sn 60096. Mine has a date of Oct. 28, 1971 stamped with one of those adjustable date type stamps, but according to Roy it was originally shipped in Aug.1964.

Dont know on this one, box not near by. I can tell you some distr. and retail shops would stamp a date in the lid when they received the gun. Perhaps some inventory control practice. I never did. I just looked in my FFL log book.
