BC, & soon, Mexico again!
Life has thrown me a few curves this past year and I have not posted hardly at all although I have been around. I have been going through a rapid and unexpected career-change that does not seem to be over yet although the personal life has survived just fine. (Yes, Colonel Roettinger's NRM is just fine and safe as well.) But something has come up that is too good not to show around.

A friend in Guadalajara just came across this nice K-38. Perhaps it pre-dates 1961 but I have chosen to post it here and if I am wrong it is not intentional.

The condition is very nice for a Mexican gun, since often they are not kept up very well. The red ramp front sight is also most interesting as are the non-football stocks with nice diamonds there in the centers.

As I said, I have had more than a few unexpected curves thrown at me in the past year and am still dealing with some serious changes in lifestyle. One of them is that I no long have an M-5 Multitronic unit for a computer, just this crappy Mexican laptop that often kicks me out without notice so I tend to keep any writing sessions -- including emails -- short and to the point. So I won't risk being kicked out here and just get on with posting the photos.

Some marks on the stocks, probably from brass being extracted into them.

These are Cel phone photos, but pretty decent ones, and certainly clear enough for us to see what Marco has stumbled onto.

Red ramp with white outline, target trigger and hammer, and serial number is K-366440. Barrel is 6 inches from cylinder face to end of tube. Although it sort of looks longer, I had him confirm that. Okay, that's my post on this horrible laptop for this K-38 in Guadalajara! Good show, Marco! Saludos, everyone!

K366000 puts it into the year 1959, should be stamped MOD 14 and a 4-screw frame. Enjoy!

Marco, I know you will be viewing this thread. Could you please take those stocks off and see if they are stamped or lettered with pen to the Serial Number of the gun? Send me a photo if you can. Thanks.

Marco, yo sé que vas estar revisando ese thread. Puedes, por favor, quitar esas cachas para ver si estan grabadas o marcadas con pluma con la matricula del revolver? Mandame una foto si puedes. Gracias.

In a currently running thread, Doc44 says that such stocks were made up to and around 1956 so I doubt that these stocks will number to the gun. But I just have to ask.....

Nice Model 14
Hows the ice cream business?

I am out of the Ice Cream business. After 23 years in it (out of 26 years in Mexico). A lot of stuff went South but the main reason was that a change of ownership of the parent company led to some decisions that cut the profits to the point that we weren't making any money. So we got out.

There is a major election coming up in 2018 in Mexico and we will see what happens but there is a chance the country may end up going sharply left. Since I am married to a Mexican, I will always have at least one foot in Mexico but there are other alternatives and I am looking into some.

But don't worry, Phil's NRM and any other RM's or NRM's that were hovering around in my orbit are just fine and will stay that way. It's me and the wife doing the moving around right now as we see where our feet will land.

I hope all goes well for you!
I enjoyed your many posts on the NRM.

Thank you very much.

Marco got back to me quickly with some photos. It does not appear that the stocks are original to the gun, at least there is no evidence of that written or stamped upon them. Exciting stuff, though.

Target Stocks were rarely numbered, and never on K-38s that I am aware of. You will only see that on some very early Pre-25s, Pre-19s, and perhaps a few Pre-29s, though I'm not sure about that. Doc44 would be the man to ask.

Glad to hear you are OK.
I heard about your move in Tulsa. I've been in more than one river if you need any help moving stuff. :D

You got a great gun, Marco!
