Nickel 19

Well, I went into a local gun store Friday of this week and low and behold they had a nickel 19-3 from 1973. It was an ugly mess and had been stored in a plastic case with egg carton foam soaked in oil. I asked to look at it and quickly came to the conclusion that it had been fired very little if at all. I took it home for less than a used Glock....here she is with my 27-2 after a couple hours of cleaning. Gotta love Flitz! Moral of this story, nickel can look damn ugly but it cleans up like Cinderella on date night!

I should also note that I completely stripped this gun. The oil had gotten into the action as well and it had the appearance of Cosmline. Anyway I wish I had thought to take before pics! On another note the front sight blade is blued. Could that have been ordered that way or was it swapped out by the previous owner? Either way I think I like it much better than the all nickel Front on my 27-2. I just realized that pic from last night didn't come out well so I'll try to take a better one today.

My very first S&W is a nickle M19 in four inch.
It got me hooked on their revolvers for sure.

I bought a nickle revolver about five years ago that had a lot of fine scratches in it. I flitzed it up and most but not all came out. Since then I Ren Wax it once ore twice a year. I am finding the wax is starting to remove the rest of the scratches and is now almost as new again.

Its amazing what a nice cleaning will do. It looks great.

This is my only nickle pistol, a M27-2.

This was the filthiest gun I ever brought home and it too cleaned up great. Flitz is awesome.

Got to love a nickel 19!! Very nice, it cleaned up very well, Mothers mag polish works well too. A pic of my 4 inch that is very close in age.

My first centerfire was a model 19 6" in nickel. I bought it new around the late 70s (if my memory serves). It cemented my love of Smith and Wesson guns forever.

I'm watching a nickel 19-3 on Gunbroker right now, I'd love to bid on it but it's already going for more than I'm willing to spend.

I just won a blue 19-3 with presentation case, I should be getting it towards the end of the week. It will be my first K frame, looking forward to it!

My nickel 19 from 1973 has a nickel plated front sight. I wonder of yours was replaced after or ordered that way. My nickel N frame 357 (pre 27) has a pinned, blued front sight.

You need to carefully and lightly try flitz. Lightly rub. Just my .02
