Nickel 59

I recently purchased a Nickel plated Model 59 and was a bit disappointed to find that it had a crappy Ram Line mag and not the factory one (purchased online). I'd like to have the proper mag for this gun. Would it have shipped from the factory with a blued mag or something else?

Also does any one know how rare Nickel plated 59's and 39's are?

Your nickel S&W 59 (and 39's) would have shipped with two blue magazines.
I would not classify them as rare, but they sure are attractive.

Thanks for the info. I'll have a few blued ones when my blued 59 arrives. You don't see too many plated S&W autos for sale up here and I have to find a plated 39 to go with my 59. My goal is to get all variations of the 39/59 series of pistols. Any advice as to how to dress up the plated gun for photo's? If I don't wipe it dry the finish looks bad and the pistol borders on like new. I've heard of people waxing their Nickel plated revolvers, is that how it's done? If so what kind of wax?

Renaissance Wax works very well on my nickel guns. You may hear it referred to as Ren Wax.
I have it on this Model 59.

I bought an as new 59 nickel in the box this winter and it had one blued magazine and one stainless with it. Picked up two more stainless 15 round mags. To polish nickel Turtle Wax clear coat scratch remover works pretty good, just go lightly and the fine scratches disappear.

Now I need to do mine.

Not quite, 639, 659, and 59. Another 59 should be on the way within a week or two, and I'm hoping to add a 5906 soon.
