Local store has a 639 (marked that way) that is nickel with adjustable sights with wings for $450.00
Did this come from the factory this way?
Serial start with A800**** (I think).

A factory nickel finish will only appear on the 439/539 2nd generation single stack 9mm pistols. If the finish is stainless and not polished by a prior owner, that would be a good price.

If its been scotch brited or polished with Flitz/Mothers etc, that would be an ok but not great price. Earlier versions of this gun have rounded trigger guards, the later ones have the squared trigger guard. Hope this helps!

I'm the second owner of mine (A808***). It has the sights you described and I would be surprised if the original owner changed them. The gun is nickel?

Round trigger guard. It is shiny. Maybe nickel plated or shined with Scotch Brite or Flitz?Mothers as mentioned.
Comes with 2 mags but I will pass on this one.

I disagree. It is most likely polished stainless. And, if well done, well worth the $450 asking price. It is not a rare gun, so the fact that it has been polished will have little, if any, effect on the value. It would make a great shooter and you'll never lose any money on it. I'd try to make a lower cash offer to see if they would take it. But, I definitely wouldn't pass on it.

Thank you for your input. I will reconsider this one.

The S&W Model 639 is an all-stainless pistol, so it would not have been nickel plated. If this Model 639 is polished, then it was done outside the factory. If it was a nicely polished pistol, roll marks not smeared or nearly obliterated, and in good condition, I'd say $450 is a reasonable price.

For the price you would be better off with a 3913 or 6906 in Stainless if you are strictly looking at a shooter /carry gun. Unless you specifically like the 2nd Gen the 3rd Gen models I mentioned can be had for $450 and even less.
The winged rear sights are a bonus as they are a later edition and much better then the earlier sights.
