Fords charges $500 to nickel plate a handgun. I was thinking about having my new m29-10 done in nickel.

For $500 + approx. $100 round-trip shipping, it might just pay to sell yours and buy one already made in Nickel. It would probably be cheaper, especially if your Blued version is in good condition.

That said, if you are attached sentimentally/nostalgically to yours (and I completely understand that), yes you could have them do the job. As far as how long - my personal opinion is that there is no real answer, they will only give you an estimate! Since Ford's is one of the very few left doing Nickel plating, it all depends on their demand at the time. When ever I've been quoted wait times by Company's it meant very little. It really depends on when they do a Nickel Plating batch. If their batch is coming up soon, you will get it sooner, if they just did a Nickeled batch yesterday, good luck. Firearm Refinish and Restoration lists nickel plating a handgun at $280.
A lot more reasonable. I've heard a lot about the owner, George Roghaar. He seems to do excellent work.
