Night Guard 327

Hello everyone.

I finally picked up my new S&W Night Guard series model 327 8-shot .357 magnum today.

Anyone else own this model or something close to it? I love the way it feels in my hand. The action is very smooth.

I've got a 327 nightguard too, I've put about 150 rds. of .38 cal through it. It shoots nice and is just plain mean looking. I had kramer make a custom holster for it too. I carry it when I can.

I have a 386 Night Guard and like it a lot as well. (Well, after sending it back to S&W to replace the firing pin.) Seven rounds of .357 or .38 goodness in a compact package.

I just bought a Performance Center 8-shot 327Sc with all the goodies. Haven't shot it yet but find myself falling in love with the short barreled N frames

Just bought one of these (329NG) - but it's back at the S&W factory because at the first range trip 1/3 of the rounds failed to fire. When a defensive gun goes "click" instead of "BANG" it's disheartening to say the least. It's probably getting a longer firing pin.

Aye, that's exactly what happened to mine (386NG) with a 50% failure rate after the first couple of cylinders. S&W ended up replacing my firing pin.

I wonder if they're having a QC problem with their pin supplier?

Because the weapon is so light, that during recoil heavier bullets are likely to be pulled forward out of their cases. If the bullets move far enough forward, they bind the cylinder-effectively locking the gun up so it can't be fired or opened.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I really like my new pistol and I can't wait to take it out to the range. I own several semi automatic handguns but this is my first revolver. I'm sorry I waited so long.

I feel in much greater control of the weapon with a revolver than I do with a semi automatic. The ability to de-cock easily and safely. I really like that a lot.

Ponci - are those Hogue Bantam grips for your 327? I didn't know that they made them for the Round N-frame... been looking for some - where did you get yours?

Yes, they are Hogue Bantams. I think mine is on the L frame (it's a 386NG).

Wait a minute. One guy says seven rounds; one guy says eight. Or are you carrying the hammer on an empty chamber?

No they are carrying different firearms. Models 386NG and 327NG.

The J frame 357s hold 5 rounds
The K frame 357s hold 6 rounds
The L frame 357s hold 7 rounds
The N frame 357s hold 8 rounds
