I have two Nikon ProStaffs, 4-12x40mm's, one Nikoplex (fine duplex) reticle then I got a BDC (bullet drop compensating) reticle.
Basically after a year of my brand new Remington 597 sitting in the closet on the floor, I decided to drop some dough on it to get it the tender loving care (and work) it sorely needed. After the VQ parts I added a scope, having read many good things about Nikon ProStaffs on here and say The Firing Line etc , and finding it on sale on MIdwayUSA from $200 to $160 I thought, it looks like a grreat price for a nice riflescope.
I liked it so much i got one for my Savage Mark II ...Which is the GXP model, extremely classy looking like a real deer rifle. Vs my 597 which was OD Green synthetic stock, now has a camo spray painted striped Rustoleum finish... much modern looking semi auto suburban sniper rifle. But BOTH are SO AWESOME with their Nikon ProStaffs 4-12x40mms and worth the price extremely high value.
I have an Aimpoint Micro R-1 for my 15-22, but I am seriously considering getting an additional scope, the P22, for my 15-22 and giving my M930SPX shotgun the Aimpoint Micro full time. Thats how much I love these ProStaffs. I know its not the top of Nikon's lin in fact its the entry level I believe, but its jusy so high i nqual I love thm.
