I was wondering if anybody had any experience with the nikon pistol scopes on larger caliber revolvers? I was debating if it would be enough scope to handle the brute force of my 460?

Buy once-cry once- get a Leupold 2.5x8 and be done, even these have about a 6000 round limit.
They warranty their products without question and turn around has been good to date.

All other scopes I tested lasted less than 100 rounds and many less than 20. To be fair the Bushnell lasted about 400 but drift started at just under 200 rounds.

As stated Nikon is out of the scope business.

As mentioned there are previous threads on scopes and red dots on X-frames if you do a search

be safe

FWIW - Midway has zero Nikon pistol offerings[not even out of stock] and only about 9 rifle models. Given the 'usual' Midway selections - its VERY thin for Nikon. Whether that's an indication of 'going out business of a particular brand' would appear to be unknown right now.

I have a 35 year old Nikon mounted on a Dan Wesson .44magnum, never had a moments problem with it. Sorry to hear they no loger are in the business.

I have one pistol and one rifle scope made by Nikon. They work great but the warranty is about to be gone. I imagine of something failed they would replace it with a camera of equal value.

Just to be clear, Nikon has ceased production for any new firearms scopes. However the remaining supply available at various distributors and retailers being sold new are fully covered by Nikon's warranty and they will continue to repair scopes covered by Nikon's warranty. To put it simply, if you purchase a new Nikon scope today you will be fully covered by the warranty terms enclosed in the packaging for the scope.

I really hate to read this, as Nikon has for sometime been my choice for a lower to mid-range priced scope.

I have a Burris 2x on my 500 and it has held up great through about 800 rounds. It is mounted in a Weigand mount with 3 rings so I think that has a lot to do with it holding up so well. I don't hesitate to recommend the Burris and especially the Weigand mounting system.
