Yes! There is treasure in them that hills/Mountains.
Forrest Fenn from Santa Fe hid a treasure chest somewhere.
It's certainly sounds like a great possibility for a rewarding adventure!
The problem is 2 folks so far have died looking for it.
So the State Police Chief - who by law is in charge of all search and rescue in the state- he wants Forrest Fenn to call in the dogs and recover the treasure, and call off the hunt.
Forrest keeps saying, it's not in a dangerous location!
If you fall off a 500 ft cliff, you are looking in the wrong place!
It may not be there? If I found it, I wouldn't tell anybody, maybe close family members.
I have not looked for it.
I'm really afraid it would grow into an obsession.

I like his reason for doing this treasure (besides selling books):)

"Why? He claims that he wanted to motivate people to get outside—into the particularly great New Mexico outdoors. "Get your kids out in the countryside, take them fishing and get them away from their little hand-held machines," he said during his Today appearance."

It's been estimated and reported that 100,000 folks have looked for this treasure.
Yes, both the deceased guys were in - around the upper Rio Grande.
Not as far up as the Gorge, which is a really deep gully!
But in places with some steep slopes.
