And want to change Florida into wherever they come from....... When they would tell my Mother "That's not the way we did it back home." She would tell them to go on back as the road ran both ways. Now if we could just do that with the critters.........

AJ , I have the feeling you were born here too . I was born in Orlando in 1958 . My dad was stationed at McCoy AFB , back when there wasn't much there .
Stray cats around here outnumber stray dogs 8-10 to 1.
Liking the Fla. member responses, I'm afraid soFla is way past gone with much of the state not far behind.

I think it would be a grand adventure, the python hunt. I can understand safety concerns, but I’d like to use a shotgun myself. I don’t see a reason to capture any alive.
On that type of hunt, don’t always need everyone blasting away when together. One shooter at a time is enough, as long as they can do the job.
With some outings being an ‘assistant’ isn’t bad, plenty to do even if not a shooter. I think my load would be hi-power, #4 lead or ‘Hevi-Shot’ type, maybe #2 or ‘T’.

I don't go in the swamps, super snakes stay out of the mountains, so everything is okay here.
I have a good friend who’s a well known wildlife biologist. He’d stop by with a cloth bag, reach in and pull out a coral snake to show me. He told me how to get a snake to let go when it’s bitten you-this was after the biting that prompted me wanting to know-a dab of alcohol on their nose will get them to open up and let go. Those numerous slanted teeth as shown in that python skull above hurt and are almost impossible to get off the web of your (actually my) hand.

Grew up in Miami, was interested in becoming a herpetologist. Caught lots of snakes, most native in Fla., many in Alabama while there for a year. Have watched the TV folks catching pythons and usually laugh. I was interested in regulations in catching them. Double check the laws, read it is against the law to transport them alive.

YIKES, THE PILGRIM, that would’ve caused me to have a heart attack if I stumbled upon it!
I am not a big fan of snakes. I’m not a “kill them all” person because I realize they have their value. I am a “prefer them somewhere else” kind of person. About 20 years ago I had my Boykin Spaniel in my backyard along with a buddies’ Boykin. They were both barking their heads off
, which is something that they didn’t usually do. I also noticed that they were both standing in the backyard looking at the deck instead of standing on the deck. I went outside to survey the situation, and when I crouched down and looked under the deck for a few seconds, I noticed the tail of a black snake moving around. The snake had actually climbed up and was “holding on
“ just under the deck floor boards. I fashioned a “snake catcher” out of a 6’ piece of PVC pipe with weed trimmer cord running through it. I went on the deck and saw the snake through the slats in the boards, and using a paint scraper, nudged it to the ground. Grabbed my homemade catcher and was able to get the loop of trimmer cord around its head and take up the slack, effectively catching it. I then carried it down the street to the local creek.
