I am surprised that no one has mentioned the Daytona 500

that kicks of in a little over 35 minutes?

I will watch the first 45 min, and if boring tape the rest.

If the cars can pass the car in front of it this year, I will watch.
If another "Follow the leader" race,
Ho Hum. :o

I used to be a fan. But after rule changes and politics it became boring. I’d watch the Bristol race but that’s about it.
If it has an engine and tires , I’m interested but it has to have some excitement.

I don’t want to go up to bedroom to watch TV, and wife has Hallmark on. I haven’t seen a NASCAR race since I lived up Butler County. The club I went to on Sundays had 2TVs near the bar and played the Steelers on a tiny one at the back end of the bar past the pool tables. It was okay I guess.

Hot off the press from Autoweek:

"Seven-time NASCAR Cup champion Richard Petty earned his seven Daytona 500 victories via various scenarios, but he “feels sorry” for the drivers competing in Sunday’s Daytona 500.

“They don’t have any horsepower,” Petty said Saturday at the 2.5-mile track. “The situation is you’ve got 15 to 20 cars running. You come down to the end of the race and you’ve got to be in the right line with the right people. It’s not the decision you make as much as it’s the decision that somebody else makes.

Richard Petty says drivers can only do so much in today’s game.

“One car can’t do anything. If somebody pulls out, they have to have help because they don’t have any horsepower. You pull out of line and go forward. Then the next lap 14 cars come back by and you’re still running wide open. It’s a real crapshoot. I feel sorry for the drivers that have to drive right now.”

Petty noted that when he competed at Daytona International Speedway there were five cars in the draft and the cars possessed the horsepower that allowed them to pass.

“You could out-figure somebody,” Petty said. “You can out-figure four or five people, but you can’t out-figure 15 people.”

What is with that type of ending, winner, set up?

I forgot about the 3 stage, what is this, a picnic?

I don't care for all the overtimes.
That, to me is not racing.

Sorry but I have had enough of this foolishness.
No more for me.

It's a restrictor plate race, 20-30 car trains. If you think there'll be any real racing, good luck with that. The winner will be a survivor of the inevitable "Big One" that takes out half the field. Not interested.
