No more 3rd generation Smiths?

Even a limited run of 50 pistols means that somebody has to front about $30K to place the order. The major distributors probably won't touch that unless it is a model that is guaranteed to sell for close to $1k apiece (that last TSW that I bought retail was in 2004, and that was well over $800).

It would have to be a new model, something that isn't available on the used market for $400. Perhaps a 1006TSW with integral forged rail. That might get 50 buyers. :)

Anyone wanting a nice S&W pistol - you know, the ones they use to make ;) - should contact Lew Horton.

I spoke to them a few months back expressing interest in another run of stainless PC CQB 4566's. They said they had others who had inquired about this model and if there was enough demand, they would order another batch. Regards 18DAI.

All good things must come to an end. Colt stopped production of their wheel guns. Ruger is slowly stopping production of their P series autos.

I like S&W guns. Just bought a nice 4006TSW. But my GLOCK Gen 4 22 is a far better pistol as a duty firearm. Lighter, better trigger, higher capacity easier to take apart.

In the end, times change and S&W needs to change too or they go out of business.
