I would imagine that they're discontinuing the products that the fewest people buy. So, if you have a soft spot for GLEEM toothpaste, or FAIRY cleaning products, you probably should be looking into an alternative.

No More Ivory Soap? So how am I to add to my fleet of soap boats for the tub??? I still have plenty of toothpicks and paper sails left!

What is the world coming to!

You still have time to stock up, go to Wal Mart and get in line.:D

Could be they sell some of those brands to others rather than just end and bury them.

I would imagine there are many factors involved in such decisions - and productivity versus cost versus profit of each product plays an important role. Could also be they need to increase production of the top brands and rather than build net new plants and adding shipping capacity personnel etc - they are just reducing the number of items produced by a given plant leaving no capacity for a lower performing item.

or stocking up

When I was a kid growing up at Possum Kingdom lake, we bathed in the lake and Ivory was one of the only floaters. I think Dove may have floated too. Oh well, no scrub-a-dub-dub in the lake anymore anyhow :).

I live 15 minutes from P&G's hq and never knew they made all those products. I should stick my head out of the rabbit hole more often.

Post script; the "t" in often is silent.

My misses buys what's on sale that she has coupons for. No matter what brand we use it anyway.

Do you think this is a marketing ploy to boost sales?

On some of those products, can you say "marketing ploy" boys and girls? You just know there are some people who will run out and buy every bar of Ivory or some of the other products they can find.
