My 15-22 has been at S&W for over a week and still has not been shipped back. The customer service rep. told me they are not doing two day turn arounds now plus no more free mags. They are trying to get rifles shipped plus trying to fulfill mag. orders.

I guess one should not buy a new 15-22 unless it has the blue springs.

I think most new people here are reading too much into spring color and sending back perfectly operating guns too S&W for updates even when they have no issues present.
The free mag thing was nice, But i think people started taking advantage of S&W's generosity.

Ive read many threads where people bought a new gun which didn't have all the current updates send thier guns in that had no malfunctions and want a bunch of replacement parts and then ask for free mags when in fact they are putting the inconvenience on S&W and not themselves.

Due to that it also makes it harder on people who DO have issues that need fixed as im sure they aren't paying as much attention and detail to guns and just throwing parts in them to get them out the door when they have so many perfectly operational guns coming back just for updates. Once they see a gun that really does have problems and unless it has a blown out extractor they may just treat them as another upgrade gun.

Seriously guys, If your gun works and has no issues. Keep shooting it until you have issues or when S&W has a recall which i doubt they will.

My apologies to the OP if he gun was damaged or not working right and needed sent in for that, But it wasn't mentioned and all i saw was someone wanting all the new specs and some free mags.

Really? How many here have sent back a perfectly operating 15-22 just to get blue springs?

Blown Extractor

Ooopppsss! I didn't not say that on my approx. 200+ round my extractor blew out. So the rifle had to go back.

Agree totally with everything you said, 'cept the blue springs thing.
Everything has a price, there's no such things as free mags. I wonder how long any business stays operational giving out "free" stuff.
The OP in this thread was not asking for a freebie, though.

I do apologize to the OP as it wasn't stated he had an extractor issue. But i still stand by what i said about other people sending back rifles for updates and mags when there was no reason to.

ChattanoogaPhil- I don't keep count, But ive seen threads and post's about this exact issue being done. And its not just springs, It was extractors and swapping of older model mags too when there was no reason for it to be changed out, yet.

As you know S&W has done quite a few updates and fixes and people buying older stock guns weren't happy once they found out they "may" have issues with non current spec'd guns and ive seen several say they were sending these guns in for updated spec parts. Also asking for 2 free mags, Not just replacements.

In the end we all shall pay with longer waits, No freebies for our time when the gun DOES break and most likley only get the broken part updated and not all the older parts replaced.

This is how the expectations of a free mag began.

Forum members were reporting rifle failure and sending back for repair. Upon receiving the repaired rifle, they were reporting being pleasantly surprised to have an additional mag or two sent back with the rifle. From that point folks just wanted to be treated the same as others.

I'm an old fart who gets amused by the instant gratification expectations today. A two day turn around is great but it should not be expected or demanded. Unless it's a duty weapon or there is an impending rabbit invasion, most of us can get along without our 22s for a few weeks while the repairs happen. Repair time used to be measured in months rather than days.

I sent several S&Ws back for repair or modification over the years and never had one take more than a month or so. I consider four to six weeks a reasonable turn around for most any return but then I am a dinosaur.

My M&P15-22 has feed and extraction issues so I sent it back to see if they could make it work. It arrived at S&W today and I will not be calling customer service any time soon to check on it's progress. It will get here when it gets here.

Well I sent mine in 2 weeks ago
S&W Got it on 4-5-10 and it was sent back to me on 4-8-10
Should be here by friday
We shall see if I got any complementary Mags
BTW I had FTE's, FTF's and OOB discharges that led to a missing extractor

Phil, My main reply wasn't all about the mags. That was just half of it. Im talking about people who were asking and did send brand new purchased and unshot guns back to S&W for updated specs on the springs, extractor and old style mags because they felt they bought "old" stock that wasn't up to date with current specs S&W was producing. On top of that asking for 2 extra free mags for their time.
This is what i had an issue with.
Then it led to people having real issues requesting free mags with a legitimate repair, That i have NO issue with.

I just wanted to make it clear what my statements and feelings were. Im not blaming anyone nor will i search and dig to find the "dirt". I think we all can go on from here as a happy family as S&W has wised up and fixed the issue themselves and now no one is getting free mags even when legit repairs that are made.

And trust me there were ALOT of guns sent back to S&W that were legit repairs as we all know. And thankfully they rather quickly did updates to fix those issues. But even i expect that to happen when anything new hits the market as nothing ever comes off the assembly line in its 1st revision as a perfect item.

Well I think they got my gun on Thursday, or Friday maybe I can't remember. When should I get mine back? I was hoping some time this week. It only took like two days to get there.

Nice
Shipping is killer to the West Coast

To make it worst for me, Fed Ex ground only comes out to my area once a week. (Rocky Mtns) AZ

Glad you got all that off your chest.;)
