No problems with new BG380

I stopped by a LGS just to browse yesterday and ended up leaving with a BG380. It was $317 + tax, which I felt was a pretty good deal. Did the paperwork and payed cash. I was in and out in 20 minutes. So much for browsing.

Today I ran 50 rounds of HPR ball through it, without a problem. Every round fed, fired, and ejected. I didn't expect any problems with ball feeding though. On my third magazine the slide didn't stay open. I am nearly positive that this was due to my thumb interfering with the slide release button. Afterward I was mindful of where my digits were while using this little gun and had no problems with the slide staying open between mags.

I know that 50 rounds is hardly enough usage to really get a feel for reliability, but so far I'm pleased.

Good for you, never a problem with ours either with several K's through it of all types of ammo, and it's a first model. I feel sorry for those that got the lemons.

I have had 4 of the BG380's keep trading them off for what I think I need (Something Bigger) but keep going back to this model. I believe I will keep this 4th one. I have never had any problems out of any of the 4 that I purchased including the one that I own now.

I got a BG380 a few months ago and I haven't had any problems with it at all. I ran 3 boxes of fmj from Magtec and Remington, and a box of Hornaday Critical Defense without a single failure in the first couple of weeks after I got it. It's now my daily CCW. From what I've read maybe I got lucky, but so far I've been very pleased. Pleased enough that I'm thinking about getting a Shield 9.

I got my no-laser M&P/BG .380 in Feb. and have run 650 + rounds of FMJ & HP through absent any problems what-so-ever. The only changes I made were to paint the front sight bright orange, and to add a Hogue rubber slip over grip to help w/my XLG hands. I readily admit that I got lucky, but figure I'm due after the LCP & Glock 42 were abject failures. The little gun is carried only when my J frame cannot be adequately concealed, but is shot often enough to maintain proficiency. Their trigger is very similar to a J frame and accuracy is amazing for such a small weapon. It's a keeper for this old stick-in-the-mud.

My BG380 is up to about 700 rounds mostly of my reloads.

Its boringly reliable. It doesn't even get that dirty. But it is not a range gun. Putting more than a hundred rounds through it makes me want to stop by orthopedics office on the way home (nearly 70 year old wrists prefer uncorking wine bottles).

But as a little gun to rely on to do its job should it ever be needed, hide in your pocket invisibly, and give you warm and fuzzy feelings on a dark early morning walk to drain the puppy dog, its a very good choice.
