So, Engineer, you don't like DA bottom-feeders? Beretta, Walther, Makarov, SIG, Smith - the hammer on all of them move when you pull the trigger.

This thread is worthless without pictures!
The only possible issue I can think of might be muzzle control during reloads. Charging and reloading auto pistols can be done with the muzzle pointed down range, it's pretty typical to have the muzzle pointed straight up or down for a revolver reload....which might draw the ire of some range masters. Had it happen, once.

A group of women who carry including NRA instructors and range officers who discourage revolver use?? That just doesn't sound right. Sounds like there's a Paul Harvey missing on this one.
Don't know about his reasoning, but I did have a fellow refuse to be shot with a revolver....
Boys are icky.
I'd like to know their reason too. Makes no sense to me as I've found that most of the ladies I know prefer wheel guns due to their simplicity.
But then, is there one man on this board who can say he understands women?

Well, I like watching them sliding out of Daisy Dukes.I like watching girls wearing Daisy Dukes climb up into pickup trucks, and also enjoy watching them slide out of pickup trucks.
ANd as far as the group not liking revolvers-that's simple. Revolvers are a man's gun and the little ladies just don't understand how to use them.

Sounds like the rehearsal I attended where every woman was in competition with the others on who had the shiniest, most colorful and stylish workout leotard outfits. Revolvers generally print more than semis and that would be a fashion disaster.

Sure, but ejecting empties is often taught with muzzle straight up. Again, I'm guessing. I see people wave guns all over reloading and ejecting with both types.
I've had a range member/RO get on me for using the FBI reload. Or charging a Luger with the muzzle pointed up. People are weird.

I haven't shot too many revolvers, but the 357 snubbie I shot, really hurt my hand and I'm not recoil sensitive.

If the core of the group is younger, they may have had a lot more exposure to pistols as fighting tools, and very little to revolvers. I have seen women who can't really shoot a K frame well due to trigger reach, and J frames bring plenty of their own handicaps.
Well over 30 years ago, Professor Bowman of the University of Illinois Police Training Institute (one of the few academies in the State and by far the best firearms program at the time) wrote an article about how much better female recruits did with 1911s vs. K frames due to the ergonomics. The difference in performance was staggering and almost entirely a difference in fit for the smaller hands. I probably still have a copy of the article somewhere. John and the majority of the firearms instructors were Gunsite alumni and instructors there.

I've never shot anything in the 1911 style. K-frames are my favorite and that is what I shoot the best so I find that interesting. Maybe my fingers are longer than average?
It's because the barrel wasn't long enough. There I said it. I know a lot of you were thinking it.

I know I've told this story before, but don't recall if I've told it here. I loaned my father a pistol, because there had been burglaries in the neighborhood. He had Mama take a "woman's pistol class" given by the Sheriff's Department.
The gun was a six-inch Trooper Mark III, and Mama had little bitty hands.
I went with her on "range day", and saw that she had to hold the gun like this
for her finger to reach the trigger. Took all the recoil on her thumb, instead of the web of the hand.
After she shot the entire box of ammo I'd brought for the Trooper (and completely destroyed center of mass), I handed her my Gold Cup and told her to shoot at the right shoulder.
Eight holes in the shoulder later, she says, "I like this one. I can get my hand around it."
So the Trooper went back with me and the Gold Cup went home with Mama. Took me about six years to get it back.

Maybe because it was a Mister Smith instead of a Lady Smith. Gee, a 380 over a revolver? (don't get me wrong, I have a 380 but prefer my revolver) Sounds like a 25acp would have been fine with them. It is fun speculating, but I'll sure be interested in hearing the actual reason.

About 20 years ago my wife went to a woman's shooting class run by the Sheriff's office. I sent her with a 2.5" 66 and a box of 38's.. She told me that when the instructor was looking over the guns ans checking them for functioning before the shooting part-he came to her, looked at what she had brought and remarked "You're Gary's wife aren't you?" She wanted to know what he meant by that.
Years later I sold him that 66....................
