I was at the NRA convention in Indianapolis last Friday and didn't see a S&W booth in the exhibit hall. They don't show up in the exhibitor list either. Anybody know why?

That is an interesting question?

I doubt though it is because of something that happened in the past since they were at the NRA Great Outdoor show just a year or so ago.

That article is from 2018 and the things that took place were late 90's and early 2000's.

I know they have been at NRA events many times since then.

And I think they made a 50th Anniversary NRA model 10 commemorative around 2010.

Would be curious as to why but not sure it would be them holding a grudge?

Geissele wasn't there either, both were at SHOT 2023. My guess is the financial return doesn't justify the cost; marketing via the Internet today is much more cost effective. I hope they'll be at a future show.

Setting up and attending a trade show like that cam cost anywhere from $15k for a small 10 foot booth, to over $100k depending on the size and complexity of the booth, the number of people manning the booth, etc. Sometimes, it's hard to justify.

Used to work the FFA convention at my old job. Two people, three days, small booth was right at $10k. It was hard to see $10k worth of benefit. We quit going.

I asked Bill Cross at the SWCA, he said he thought it was because S&W is in the middle of a move.

I'd say they used up all their spare cash building guns, then rebuilding when the new customer sends them back. Postage these days is spensive.

In today's world nothing surprises me. Likely Smith is not sending a message or making a silent statement by not participating.

I don't fault Smith either way.

This post is totally worthless, you have to subscribe to the Washington Post on-line to read the article!

Just look up the article on archive.is before calling the post "worthless."

(It is a ****, biased article that is basically nonsense, but you can certainly find it online and get around the paywall).

Do you honestly think it just involves boxing everything up and shipping it FedEx?

I honestly think the only boxes the marketing team should be moving are the ones going to the NRA Convention.

My advice to them would be to have their marketing team available to tell the story to anyone who would listen about their new operations outside of the socialist northeast

Their absence was definitely conspicuous. A lot of disappointed attendees, including me.

Biased drivel not to be taken seriously? Hmmm...how would we characterize the remarks of someone who dismisses a news article without reading it?

Why would you think I didn't read it? It's anti-gun, anti-NRA nonsense, but I certainly read it.

Do you guys always get your talking points from Jeff Bezos' newspaper?

Oy vey.

Is Smith&Wesson going to build revolvers in Tn?

Its my understanding, from what I've read, that revolvers will continue being made in Massachusetts for the foreseeable future due to local skills not moving and the costs of moving the forges and equipment.

I was at the NRA Convention on Saturday morning. This was my 7th. My first was in 2008 at Louisville. I found this convention to be closing in on flea market status! Gold and Silver venders abounded and many places to buy JERKY!

The display of collectables and auction previews were extremely enjoyable. The guys with the mountain Howitzers were very pleasant to spend some time with.

I saw one vender with two CCW ladies under or mid garments. Both were well made, but as my wife said the size 2 mannequins bore no resemblance to reality for 99% of adult women! The garments were what I would call replacements for belly bands, but they wouldn't really hold the guns in accessible positions as displayed. In the time I was within eyesight of the display, nobody showed any interest. I think someone was trying to cash in on the old "Flash-Bang bra idea" Without any real input from a single gun carrying woman!

My best friend almost bought the floor model of 9mm Gattling Gun. I was seriously trying to buy a night vision scope. The vendor couldn't quit talking to a guy that didn't even own a rifle to wait on me so, after 15 minutes I moved on!

Henry had a nice display in general. But their new revolvers look like H&R design team from the early 60's has been hard at work, and their price point has no appeal to anyone that works for their money! The Mare's Leg "Pistols" in 410/45Colt, has a nice touch with screw in chokes. The mob was too thick for me to get my hands on the 9mm PCC.

I found and bought a stockpile of Berry's bullets! (My UPS guy will hate me about the end of this week!) But I didn't stumble on any other bullet company and no major reloading displays. (I wanted to talk to Redding!)

On a scale of 1-10, my limited experience would rate this convention at a 4!

Since when is the Henry .410 Axe Handle, capable of firing the .45 LC? If it was, I'd immediately buy one…

I went on several tours of the factory and the size of the forge always amazed me. The noise and heat were impressive too.

At some point it won't surprise me if they have the rare forgings shipped to TN for machining and assembly.
