After not being lucky during the spring turkey season, I've decided to put the slug barrel back on my Mossberg 500 20ga. The factory barrel is 24" long, come with adjustable rifle sights, is fully rifled and ported.

What can I say, I love shotguns. Very versatile, simple, reliable, affordable and some are combat proven.

If you don't have one you should go shopping. Everyone needs at least one shotgun :)

The 250 and 260 grain sabot slugs might be an overkill for some pest like coyote, but other than that....

JJEH, nice looking shotgun you have there. No turkey for me either. Worst year around here in long time from what I been hearing.

I put my 20' barrel and extension tube back on it and stuffed it full of buckshot and have it in an undisclosed location again.

Posting without my glasses again... I should know better.

We have no fall season, just the month of April and a day. As bad as it was I'm wondering if they will have a season at all next year.

No turkey here either. The only change my mossberg sees is a switch from an undertaker choke to a full choke after turkey season, but my preferred load is buckshot, anything past that range gets the rifle.

I've not gotten one either, we have until May 10th for our season. I'm hoping to get out this weekend for a few hours in a new spot to see what I can do about filling these 2 tags I have.

I've got a nice...

I inherited a very nice 1929 Browning A5 12 ga with a full choke. The problem is, except for 'fun' shooting, I have no use for it. I'd love to have a pump gun with an open choke for defense use that I could also use for fun shooting. I kinda don't want to get rid of the Browning except for a good deal. I tried selling it to an LGS and wasn't happy so I still have it, but I'd really like to have something else.

I forgot to apply for a permit so no hunting for me this year and I have them coming into my yard now.
I use a Mossberg 835 with a 24 inch barrel on turkeys. I have a rifled barrel for it too I used for deer but replaced it with a Browning Gold Deer Hunter for that.
So I lent my Mossberg to my brother for turkeys. He didn't get one but his daughter's fiancé got his first turkey. Weather turned cold on them and the turkeys shut down.

Spring gobblers are winning here also. Talking but not showing themselves. I think it's because of plenty of hens around.
Which also explains the extra long fall/winter season again this year.
It used to be one day( Thanksgiving) and a few more later.
Now it pretty much runs constantly through to Feb.
Plus we can use rifles which opens up some varmint gun possibilities and .22s.

At least one? Before the tragic boating accident, I may have had more than my share. ;)

Love the 500. Every once in a while, one can be found used in the $200 range. It would be hard to find a better value.

So far I've had a good season. I took one of my grandsons out on his first turkey hunts and he scored a nice Jake on the opening morning of the youth hunt. I managed a decent Tom opening morning of the the general season.

Now where trying to get my hard working son a bird but he only has Saturdays to fill his tag. Let us say hunting public grounds on the weekends has its special challenges.

My grandson with his first bird.

Congrats to those who've bagged theirs.

I've been seeing them in KS but out in fields eating and not on my place. I've only seen 2 all pumped up and strutting, one before the season started and one driving to my farm.

The Mossberg camo 20 gauge gun. I've had one for 10 years, use it upon occasion. It has screw in chokes and sling fittings. Pretty handy.
