No Trucks Allowed Left Hand Lane. So the road goes from two to three lanes uphill grade. Guess what we have? You know it three Semi-Tractor Trailer Trucks abreast going up the hill. Now we crest the hill extreme right hand lane ends. The three nitwits are slowly being compressed into two lanes. The light bulb comes on in one of the nitwit drives brain housing group and backs off.

If that wasn't enough there is a State Police Officer in position to observe this folly. Apparently the officer is too engrossed in self contemplation to notice what's going on.

Only in West By God Virginia.

Like many professions, there are a few bad eggs out there that give the rest of us a bad name. I got the ticket in a similar situation. Four lanes going north up the Grapevine on I-5 in California. I was empty, so I was doing 55 (speed limit for trucks in CA). Trucks were restricted to the two right lanes. Idiot doing 25 pulls out in front of me to pass another driver doing 25. No cars in either of the left lanes. Instead of crashing into the rear of the idiot in front of me, I went one lane left, just as we came upon the CHP. He didn't see the idiot pull out in front of me, so I got the ticket.

Believe it or not, though, I have far more stories about the idiots in the four wheelers than I do about the idiots in the trucks.

I had better start by saying I do not drive a truck Well actually I do a pickup. And will have to side with the truckers on this one. Sure you run across an idiot in a truck time to time but I would rather share the road with a real professional truck driver than many of the four wheelers out there. I dont like the no trucks in the left lane crap. It causes more problems if you ask me. When I drive in those areas if a trucker is comming up behind me I will move to the left lane to let him go since the law says he cant go there.

So to the truckers here that really care and are true pro drivers. Have a great day and keep an eye out for us little guys.

We tend to think your truck drives like a car. 0-60 like a Mustang GT and can stop on a dime.

What about the Mini Van Moms driving in the left lane with two dvd's going and on the cell phone. What's even worse is seeing a man driving a mini van, buy a REAL car

. I know it's off topic but I had to vent

I can't tell you how many times riding with my father in his truck across country when I was younger watching cars cut off tractor trailers all the time, and yes there are some bad truck drivers, oddly enough I used to see alot of them working for Swift (in CB lingo Swift stands for Sure Wished i Finished Training, and other less family rated things). But all i all, if you can spend that amount of time driving, God Bless You, I couldn't do it.

gunnut, I have always wanted a minivan. They have enough room for a lot of "stuff" i.e. shotguns, ammo, pouches, etc., and they are still small enough to maneuver and maybe even, if I am careful, parallel park.

But, I am not sure enough of my masculinity, I guess, to buy one. And, your comment drives me farther away. Even my wife says "real men" don't drive minivans-but she knew I wasn't much of a man when she married me.

I want to buy a new vehicle and actually make payments on it (haven't done that in many years) with my first Social Security check next January.

Now, I suppose I will have to buy another big ole SUV.

Near where I live the Interstate (I-75) is 4 lanes going up "Death Hill". Big signs "Trucks use right 2 lanes." Almost every time I travel it, there is a truck or 2 up in the 3rd lane. All going 35 or less. And if there is any traffic congestion (when isn't there), they get stuck out where they shouldn't be. Worse, there is no way they can accelerate so they end up crawling up the hill. The traffic behind them can't go any faster, and they can't get around them.

While that stretch of road is very heavily patrolled, I guess they don't get credit on their quota for ticketing truckers who need it.

Speeding enforcement gets all the publicity. But truckers talk to one another, and once word got out they were handing out moving violations for the offense, it would stop. I even wonder if some of the drivers don't mind the tie-ups they cause. After all, some are hourly paid employees. Its just that the huge jam they cause by their stunts cause thousands of cars and other truckers grief.

After retiring from the Navy, I drove a truck for awhile. The truck I was issued was an old cab over International, slow as crap, and was governed at 62 MPH for the flat roads.

I was climbing a mountain out west one trip, it had been snowing but the roads were clear and dry, snow still in the break down lane. I was going about 30 MPH in the far right lane, the lane provided for slow vehicles climbing the hill, flashers on, truck struggling to make it up the hill. I looked in my side mirror, and saw I was being passsed in the break down lane by another tractor trailer! The guy came by me fairly quickly, must have been empty, and gave me a rude gesture as he passed! The truck had Canadian plates, so stupidity and poor driving is not limited to the United States...
