NOCO lithium booster packs

Not to long ago someone had a thread about boosters. Not sure if it is the same. I meant to bookmark it, as I was thinking about getting two. One for my Wife.

Heck her new car battery (2 years)died the other day, had to wait for AAA, then go buy a new battery, Batteries DIE in this heat!
She could have used one of those boosters
Still do not understand how they have enough to start a dead car battery??

I've always carried booster cables, but I've been thinking about one of these, too.

I think I'd want to plug it in about once a month to make sure it stays charged. It'd suck to need the booster and it's lost its charge.

I don't know any thing about them, how long does the battery take to recharge. How many boosts can you give before recharging. will it power a pace maker?

NOCO makes different boosters for different engine displacements. I have been using a couple for the past two years. While they do need to be charges periodically, it's been every six months or so for me. Last year, I charges both of mine prior to the onset of winter and both are still going strong. I seem to recall that they make battery tenders, too.

Probably over-advertised/underbuilt. "Genius" might appeal
to the iphone crowd, tho.

Whatever you get, just charge it up to 90%. The battery
will live longer, than if you run it up to 100% and just let
it sit.

Take a look at a NOCO autopsy, here:

Project Farm tested seven units, the NOCO didn't
come in dead last--it did beat the Harbor Freight
Viking:

I've had the NOCO GB40 for a bit over two years. It's rated to start a 6.0 gas/ 3.0 diesel engine. I top off the charge every six months. I keep it in my truck and put it in my boat when I go fishing. So far I've used it three times, twice to jump start other peoples car/truck and once to help out another boater. Worthwhile IME.

You only have to charge these about once/year. I know of people who have not charged them for over 2 years and it still worked. The lithium chemistry does not really like being "topped off."

Guy talks to fast and loud for me.
Which one came out as the "best?? I saw the two graphs in the beginning but no final??

He does a quick pace, as it gets pretty monotonous to
see every unit put thru the same test--but you can
slow down the playback, under the little gearwheel
settings icon (and speed-up slow paced vids, too).

Project Farm is a fairly good channel. Some of his
tests are right on, occasionally, one of his performance
measures may measure something of questionable
value (or significance). On the jump packs, however,
all his tests made sense and measured useful parameters
(unless you live somewhere that never gets cold--then
the "zero degree" test won't mean much to ya ;) ).

Overall went to the Audew, with several others
reasonably close.

There was a LARGE performance difference that
split the group into two segments--I believe it was
the cold crank performance, after overnite storage
(of the jump packs) at zero degrees. The NOCO was
in the no-go group on that one. On all the other
performance measures, NOCO only managed to best
one other unit, the Harbor Freight Viking.

So, you can pop for one of the most expensive units,
and get next-to-last performance...or spend less, and
get much better performance. Life's an IQ test. :D

It doesn't like being charged to 100%, and stored away. It shortens the life of the (lithium battery) cell.

We can get by with charging cellular phone batteries to 100% every nite, because the battery immediately begins discharging, as soon as it's freed from charger.

Thanks! I usually like to spend more and get less or as with guns buy High and Sell LOW.:D
Shall look at the Audew (that that was sausage we use in Red :)Beans?
I buy some junk at HF (with a coupon of course) but never anything electrical!

Just ordered two (his and hers)1500.

We have 3 of them. My wife's 2016 Escape battery started to die 3 weeks ago. She jumped it 3 times without recharging the Booster. I took one look at the battery tucked way up toward the firewall and under a bunch of stuff and told her to have Budget Battery install a new battery.

Not bad to have a dedicated unit/vehicle. Nothing worse
that being stuck somewhere, remembering you left the
jump pack in the (other) vehicle.

Lest we stray too far, HF's inverter generators are just
DANDY...and I hope the 80V Atlas line is as good, I jumped
into that pool over the weekend. Couldn't resist coupon for
mower +battery+ charger...got the string trimmer too.

No more yankin' the weedwacker starter in 95* heat,
hallelujah!

Yeah, I changed an Escape battery twice. It's a real pain to get to. Have to pull the wipers, unbolt the brake master cylinder, remove the cowling and the drain pan under that to get to the battery. Bunch of bolts and a handful of clips to remove.

What were they thinking when they designed that?

Haven't needed one since I bought one. Cheep insurance. It's like my snow blower. Haven't had more than in inch in three years.

Was back in Costco today and grabbed this pic of the jump start battery they have. 59:99.
