Several days ago I was browsing ebay for a particular set of N frame stocks. I did not find what I was originally looking for, but I did stumble across a nice set of non relieved K frame target stocks. It just so happened that one of my K-22s was wearing a set of magna stocks that did not number to the gun.

So I bit the bullet, pulled the trigger and the stocks showed up in the mail today. This evening, I put the stocks on this K-22 Masterpiece and took a few pics. The gun was shipped in April of 1953.

I like 'em...

The only thing I notice is that those stocks have been stained red and poorly finished. Unlike Goncalo Alves, walnut is naturally brown and the factory did not use stain as far as I can tell. If you have some skill in refinishing wood, I would soak the stain and finish off with some paint remover, them and refinish in a good quality satin oil finish. Color should be more like these below.P1010003.JPG

Nice grips, kscharlie. I owned a walnut pair for my K22 Masterpiece about 10 years ago. I remember posting a picture of them while they were sitting on a wood table. Someone on the forum commented that the wood table had better grain than my grips, and unfortunately, they were correct. I later sold them. Walnut, like most woods, can be visually plain or striking! I LOVE striking, but it can be difficult to find, and haven’t found a pair to replace the ones I sold. Maybe someday.

I picked up a K22 Target Masterpiece off GB a little while back that came with NR targets. I like them a lot.

1956 gun with non relieved stocks. They letter to the gun. Big Larry
interesting, I would have thought these were used up before 1956. Can you share a screenshot of that part of the letter with us, I'm interested in how they're described. I think they're nice on Masterpieces too; here are three; a 22LR, one in 32 Long, and the third in 38 Special.IMG_8865.jpeg
