Non Standard Target Options

LGS has an S prefix 27-2 8 3/8" gun wearing era correct diamond target grips with TT and TH. I am trying to weigh out the liklihood of the gun lettering as configured into my purchasing decision as well as if it's worth lettering.

The 5th edition seems to indicate that TT and TH were not standard on these until 1975. If assumed done by the factory before shipping, how does a gun end up this way? Would it have required special order at customer request? Or could a dealer spec out a gun with these options to order for inventory? Apologies if this has been discussed before.

Yes. A dealer could order it with target stocks for his inventory.

Question for you: Are the diamond targets regular target stocks or "Coke Bottle" target stocks?

They are diamond targets, not cokes. I would have bought and asked questions later had they been cokes.

If the 27-2 shipped with target stocks, TH, and TT, they were extra cost options that were ordered with the revolver. I would guess the likelihood of these options lettering is less than fifty percent.

What is forum's general opinion on how much value these features add if the gun lettered correct? Gun is ~95% condition, no box no papers.

I would consider the diamond target stocks, target hammer and trigger to add around $500 value to the gun. Also a premium for an S series serial number gun. So, If the price was reasonable as is, I would not worry if it shipped that way.

That might be a generous estimate, but I really like S series 27s!

Just using my experience over 40 years of gun shows, etc, I would estimate closer to 60t-70 % I have seen having the TT TH T stocks.

I believe they are GA. Checkering has rounded corner at back of grip instead of sharp turn. Should be era correct to the gun, which dates 66-67. Going to see if we can come to terms on a price. Long barrels are cheap right now.
