North American Arms Model Question

Can anyone tell me what to look for when distinguishing a NAA-22MS from a NAA-22MSC? One can only digest .22 magnum, and the other can digest both .22 magnum and .22lr. I just bought a used one for a novelty and for fun. But I would like to know which model I have. The pictures of them on the NAA website look identical, even the text on the side of the frame.

Can't help you with your question, but here is a bit of advise to you: Never take it apart!!!!!!!!!! Years ago, when I was doing a bit of gunsmithing, I had two of them in the shop at the same time. Both came to me in pieces. One I put back together with little trouble. The other one wound up going back to the factory. There is a spring inside that is as thin or thinner than a hair pin. It broke and I ordered two more springs. Never got it together.

Did I tell you NOT to take it apart??

Did some more digging. Seems if you order the NAA-22MSC, I believe you just get an extra cylinder to swap out for shooting 22lr. I'm thinking it may be the same frame.

Like Artist007 said....The model that fires both rounds ships with two cylinders

The "C" is for conversion. Meaning you get both cylinders.

I have a Sidewinder Conversion. NAA-SWC I like to practice with 22LR and carry it with 22Mag..

I have one called the Wasp. As others have said, comes with a second cylinder. Lot of fun shooting the rimfire magnums.

So try chambering 22 Mag. it will only go in all the way in the Mag cylinder. (22 LR will go in either chamber)

That is the 22mag; I can just tell by the grip. The conversion ships with two cylinders. The 22lr cylinder has a “L” on the cylinder face. I have seen a 22mag version for sale with only a 22lr cylinder before.

I knew mine shot .22 mag. But was confused how the "other" model could shoot both since it's usually not a good idea to shoot .22lr out of a .22 mag. But two different cylinders makes sense now. I looked at the Sidewinder on their website. I like it. I'll be looking for one to add to the collection.

I have a long rifle only NAA and the cylinder( and frame) is decidedly shorter than the one in the convertable model. Your gun, with the longer cylinder and frame is the convertable model. I would hate to think that they quit making the shorter frame .22 LR model

Cajunlawer, I agree. I wouldn't want them to stop making the .22 short also. I would like to add the short to my collection. I just bought the .22lr over the weekend (the entire gun, not just the conversion cylinder). A friend has the belt buckle and is going to give it to me.
