Nosler 240gr JSP and Viht N110

I have loaded pistol and revolver loads with Compressed powder loads......
as long as they are within the standard pressures for the weapon.

My last "C" load was with the Federal 130 HST bullet for the J frame snub nose with 2400 powder, with a OAL of 1.18" but I ran short of spp's to load the last test loads and am waiting for them to show up, again.

Nothing wrong with a "C" load in rifles or revolver loads, just that sometimes a little less of a faster powder, will also work, with as good or better accuracy.

Have no idea what game you'll be hunting so this relates to my experience . Generally speaking the Nosler Handgun bullets are softer than the Hornady . From a rifle if stuck with jacketed I'd also chose a JSP over a JHP . I mainly hunt hogs as local deer aren't worth the effort ( small ) . I also shoot mainly cast bullets with wide meplats as I want penetration + ability to shatter shoulders . For deer a JHP behind the shoulder or JSP / cast forward . I have both a 280grWFN & 330GR LFN lbt designs that'll shoot lengthwise thru a buffalo from a 20" TC Encore 44mag & from a 444 are big medicine .

How interesting. I was thinking about the Nosler JSP as other posts / info I'd read said hollow points were not so good at Carbine velocities. People say the Swift 240gr A-Frames are good but they seem to be a whole other level of hard to get at the moment.

Cast can be pushed harder with gaschecks / correct alloy . It also penetrates like no tomorrow . All that said it is easier to get repeatable performance from jacketed bullets . Production the Aframe is the toughest since the Nosler HG Partition no longer made . Favorite of deerhunters is the Hornady XTP JHP , even when used with muzzleloading sabot .

I hear you my friend. Here everything with Nosler or Hornady on the box is basically unobtainium.

Nothing with Nosler, but with Hornady, Speer and Sierra bullets in...

III). Here (Germany) some dealers* still are selling .430 Hornady XTP's (240 & 200gr)...

Hi P44

7x64 is a great chambering. I have mine on a modern Mausingfield action. I tend to reload Geco cases for it and so far is a lot of fun. You have a lovely collection there, sir.

Drilling's and Einstecklaufs are cool. A good friend of mine has a 7x57r and 16/16b drilling with a .22lr Einstecklauf which with subs can be a fun way of whacking the squirrels

Well folks,

After a fair bit of trying, think I have an OK hunting load for the .44 mag.

Vihtavouri N110 powder
Magtech Large Pistol Primer
Nosler JSP 240gr

The below is just a 4 shot group from the ladder and I reckon the top right is a pull.

Only 50 yds but I reckon a place to investigate further. Decided to ditch H110 as think really needs a magnum pistol primer and they aren't the easiest of things to find where I am and I was getting very sooty cases with H110 and usually 2 "groups" when I shot, split by elevation.

I will load up some more with that charge weight and report back.

Well, was one group in a ladder. Bit more testing required me thinks but it looks promising.

Bacon or deer in the Autumn I hope.
