Took my new PPK/S to the range yesterday along with wife. I had originally thought momma would like it better than her 642. Well after jamming a half dozen times trying to get the first box through it and the wife compaining about it hurting her hand, I switched her to my P238, which she loves. Good news is, the 9mm Makarov that traded for a couple weeks ago is one sweet shooting gun.

How do you manage to have a P238 and the wife not claim it?

I have a cz82 and best, a p64 both in mak ammo. the p64 is very accurate. I changed the hammer spring, which is a must otherwise there would be a 20 pound first shot. follow ups you have to be careful of a very light trigger pull.

The PPK/S strikes again. You're not the first Bond fan to get burned by that amazing ***. I don't get it, either, because I have a 9x18 PP clone from FEG that runs great. How could they screw up a blowback firearm so badly? Congrats on the MAK, another PP clone, btw.
Well actually my P238 was her's but she didn't like the 1911 style and felt it too complicated for her. So I bought her a 642, which she disliked at first due to it kicking the snot out of her hand. New set of Hogue Monogrips and wadcutters got her liking it a lot better. So I traded my Nitron P238 for a CS45 and kept her 2 tone P238. I bought the PPK/S at a gun auction NIB and got a good deal so I can flip it probably at a profit. Just wondering if I should go ahead and invest several more boxes of ammo and see if breaks in or clean it and flip it.
I had an old Enfield 303 that had been sporterized in my cabinet for a decade or two that came out of my mother's house years ago. No idea where it came from. I put it on one of the free local gun sales sites for offers or trades. A guy that looked like Grizzly Adams came by with the 9mm Russian Makarov high capacity and it really looked good. Not a blemish on it so I traded. Figured that I would use it for trading material. But after shooting it at the range, I think I'll keep it a bit longer. I do know that I will be ordering ammo from online. I went to a local gunshop and paid $36 for box of 50 Makarov rounds.

There is lots of discussion over on the Walther forum concerning the S&W version of the PPK/S. Many folks think there is nothing good about it while other have had no problems whatsoever with the post recall guns. It would seem from the reviews that some of the recalled guns were butchered by the Houlton folks. I bought a new PPK/S last year and had three failures (all with Speer Lawman) in the first 100 rounds and on the 106th round, the rear sight fell off. S&W was prompt with a replacement. I have not had any issues or failures since that initial outing, I will use any ammo except the Speer and while not quite as much "fun" to shoot as my friend's P238, it is now with me everyday.

I had a new PPK/S 32ACP that worked right-out-of-the-box and shot everything I loaded it with. Of course....it was a post-recall gun. Never...ever...never purchase a recall gun. From what I can tell...Houlton is working-out the kinks and most of the reports you see from post-recall guns are positive. They made a total a** out of the gun from first production runs up through early 2009, but I think they generally have it right now. The one I had worked like a charm....and....it had no wart on the side either.
