I had this problem with W7 and it is even worse with W10. a virus scan and malware scan turn up no problems. I downloaded adwcleaner and while it found some stuff "not responding" keeps happening. it seems to happen with a website that has a LOT of ads to it. I added adblocker but that hasn't seemed to help much. any ideas?

The ads will go away if you upgrade your membership. I have a basic membership and my devices have no problems. You could try Google Chrome for a browser. Works for me. Much better than IE, and less prone to problems.

I get messages like i.e. is not responding and some various other sites but have no problems here. I also get pages that take forever to laod and I get the message about long running script. Bad as I hate Chrome I may try it and see if it is any better. The one thing that really bugs me with Win 10 is, if you download anything that requires adobe such as a pdf file my machine will automatically revert to Edge and, I do not know of anyway to stop it or un-install Edge.

it isn't just this website but a number of other websites as well. I might try firefox to see if that makes a difference

Most issues vanished when I switched from Edge to Firefox, and downloaded NoScript. Rarely see any ads and the computer is much faster.
