Ok, maybe Kali.
NB:
This will be MUCH more detailed than yer 'hey, howdy from ___'.
Just soz ya knowz; sometimes I go long at the keyboard.
Sometimes not.
This one's long...
I try to stay informative and as comical as I can.
Some will enjoy, many probably not so (?).
If ya don't like it, pass on by!
Been lurking here on S&W for a while.
Been on other forums for a while.
(One Cali forum in particular; if you want the link, PM me.)
I've grown up and lived in Nor Cal all my days. (60 years)
Bay Area and now Sac. Ain't movin' out.
Too many family and entrenchment.
I've observed the Kali tailspin and watched it sink into the current nanny state.
PAINFUL!
I’ve owned a Ruger Speed Six for ages.
Recently, got a hankerin' for another handgun.
Potential concealed carry piece for my work zone.
Picked up a Shield 9 back in Jan 2016 from an LGS.
Strip/clean and range time followed.
Fun stuff! I like the piece. Fits my hand well and does as it should. No real need to mod at this point. It does what it's supposed to. Increased operator usage should improve the low lefts/high rights.
Watching the recent Kali legislature's 'Gunmageddon' unfold made me grit my teeth.
Them folk are hell bent to close all doors.
Kali's 2A future in on the edge.
Saw the Massachusetts debacle take place.
Kali trying to follow.
I figured if I don't buy at least ONE AR platform now, I may not be able to in my state later on.
I know, I know; late to the party!
I'm not quite a 'first time' long gunner; fired off a bunch of my younger brother's collection previously on a few occasions.
Bolt/semi 22's, bolt/semi 6.5 and 308 Mausers. And his G3.
His 6.5 tank carbine from back when is a pride and joy!
He's the 'family weapons guy'; strict in his treatment of his gear and strict (but significantly pleasant) in his instructions to those new to the fold of iron armor.
My turn for my own equipment.
Picked up an MP 15 Sport II last week.
After the 10 day 'jail time', I stripped/cleaned and made it to the range.
Bro walked me through my first AR breakdown/clean/assemble.
HIM: "You NEVER dry-fire a piece outa the box. NEVER!!! You better know how that piece works and what the internals do, well before you get to the range!"
I passed his test...
Range time followed.
AHHHHHH!!!!
Recoil therapy!
50 rounds = all 1-2 inch groups @ 15 and 25 yards with the iron sights.
3 down range, pull the target to see the hits.
4 targets @ 15, 7 plus @ 25.
Last 6 'rapid' @ 25 all hit in/on the 10 ring.
I'm good!
Big damn grin and saucer eyes walkin' out of the range.
Stripped/cleaned immediately @ home after.
Now...
How to stay 'legal' and 'correct' (compliant) to current 'proposed legalities' from Gov Moonbeam and compatriots.
Armorer tools are in my near future so I can bust down, remove and add on parts that make it so.
Whole new universe to jump into.
Those of you ‘grizzled vets’ who’ve been in this for a while?
Bear with this neophyte!
Acronyms I need a print out for so I can understand the lingo.
Now, to figure out fundage to continue playing in this zone.
Stock, grip, fixed mag/bullet buttons, flash suppressor, etc.
Lowers, uppers, sights, scopes, ammo, gear boxes, carrying cases, cleaning/armorer supplies, gun safes, et. al.
I'm quite fine with the 5.56/.223 universe.
Cheaper and easier on the shoulder!
Got my first box of 500 5.56 to start.
Y'allz can keep yer Grendel 6.5's and such; at least for now.
Brave new world? Yeah, guess so.
Whole new world? Yep.
