Not to be confused with grits

I'm no expert, but a pasty is as Jst1mr talked of.

They came to this country when the Cornish Miners arrived in Michigan.

I work at the Missouri Mines State Historical site and my boss just told me about pasty. They can be found in most area where the Cornish miners could be found.

I first had pastys while working in michigan, the most common ingredient was rutabagas with beef, it was sorta like a beef stew filling with the rutabaga in place of potatoes.

Very good for lunch!
