Has anyone here have any details on the "Novak Elite" 10mm pistol?

This pistol was a model 645 that was modified by Wayne Novak and converted to 10mm. It allegedly was the 1st 10mm S&W pistol.

I'll try and locate the serial number tonight.

Anyone know what became of this gun? Grinder? ;) Regards 18DAI.

The 645 Novak Elites serial number is TAK7210. IIRC that makes it around 1987 production.

Thats about all I know of this obscure 645....er......10645? ;) Regards 18DAI.

Well, I have to ask: if you have the serial number how is you don't have any other details? No pic(s)?

I picked up the serial number in the SCSW 3rd edition while researching the model 645. I'd never heard about a 10mm 645 before. Never come across a photo either.

An old collector told me about this pistol and the "Supergun". The Supergun was an early S&W 45 prototype that resembled a black 645.

IIRC Mas Ayoob may have been shown the 10mm prototype during a visit to the FBI back in the day. I'll see if I can confirm that. Regards 18DAI.

Well I'm ashamed; I thought I knew every verse. :) Missed that one.

The 3rd Generation pistols exist the way they are because Wayne Novak was tinkering with improvements to the 2nd Generation pistols. He is credited with most of the modifications, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he converted 645's to see if a 1006 was even possible.

Shoot him an email and ask him directly what exactly he made and what happened to them. He might still have a 10mm 645 in his closet. ;)

I bought used 10MM magazines years ago thinking they would fit my 1006. I have since found out they fit S&W 645 and both mags look almost identical. I've sent pictures of the mags to S&W who said "not ours" I would sure like to find information on the 10mm made out of the 645 if there is such a thing, or what these mags came out of.

gunchukar, Welcome to the forum! I may not be much help but here are some things to consider...
Are they marked 10mm?
Have you checked to see if the 45ACP vs 10mm cartridge fits in the magazine?
They maybe actually 45ACP aftermarket design (if not S&W) that fit the 645 frame. Other than them being miss marked, or original seller was confused.

Best regards!

Thank you for your response Shadow 1006. When I can figure out how to reduce the picture size of my Mags to fit this forum I will attached them. These mags are marked 10MM on bottom of tube with the number 2 in smaller font to the left of the 10MM. 45ACP and 10MM fit the mags perfectly although the ears are bent resembling my S&W 1006 mags. If you look on the bottom of your (original) 1006 mags where the indention at the front of the plactic base says 10mm, these mags say S&W.

I can see why that is a puzzling situation. Those might wind up being the ones which Wayne Novak modified 645 Novak Elite. Stranger things have happened!

I have sent pictures and RFI to Mr. Wayne Novak, I'll let you know should he respond.

Mysterious 10mm magazines finally come to fruition. It appears these 10mm magazines were a proto-type using the 645 frame. After fitting the magazines and comparing to 645 mags, they are exact except the flaps that hold the 10mm rounds from bouncing out. There were only a few 10mm's built that would take these magazines but I do not know if the 645 10mm proto-type ever went into production.
