Since James Garner passed away, ive been watching 2 episodes from Maverick on a near daily basis. I SHOULD have been writing down great quotes while watching the episodes from season 1, but had a case of: the stupids.

Anyway, here are two from season 1---so far. The first oneI guess can be considered a Maverick quote. Illsplain.

In a season 1 episode--he comes into a town to look for a gambler who took him for money. Well, he winds up workinig with him--some cards table in a saloon. Well, the guy who he is working with--has been bragging for months-how he bested Doc Holiday and showed him down. Word gets around to Doc Holiday--who then goes on the search for the bragging guy.well, he finds his ay to the town the guy is at--mistakes Maverick for some guy who took his money in a game, but thinks Maverick is the actual guy he was looking for-till maverick proves different.

Anyway, when Doc Holiday is on a losing streak--he goes "hunting"and finds and kills those who tooklarge sums of money fromhim by heatingor other.Well, as the truth is--he should also be looking for Maverick--who bested him in a big game in Wichita, Kansas.

Well, since Maverick knows where the guy is that Doc is looking for--he tries to save him be distracting Doc Holiday long enough at playing cards--and setting it up allowing Doc to win ($1,000) limit. Anyway, he things that if Docs osing streak ends by doing this? that he will save the wanted mans life and Doc will forget about it and leave.

Well, after a time playing, Doc wins $1,000, and suspects soemthing is rotten in Denmark on that. He then confronts Maverick and tells him in his own way, that he didnt like what Maverick had done and considers him dead meat. Maverick of course-is ****ting bricks. His 'quote" wasa very audible: GULP. :D

quote 2 is an actual said quote.

He was rying to leavfe town but was confronted by Red Scanlon (More Mills) who says:

"Maverick, I don't like you. I see your wearing a gun."

To which Maverick replies:

"In case I come across any Snakes." The snakes he was talking about were Red Scanlon and his boss. Red Scanlon is halted by the boss from drawing on Maverick.

In an earlier scene--another quote: "Scanlon was looking like he was going to draw his gun and Maverick says:

"You draw that gun, ill kill you."

I am a bit disappointed that James Garner was not in every episode--but I think Jack Kelly is going good in his own right.

I am also a James Garner fan, but I much preferred his "Rockford Files" to the Maverick series. I have the Rockford Files on DVD, but I don't have the Maverick series. I may try and pick it up if I can find it at reasonable price.

I loved the Rockford Files series.I THINK Walmart at one time--had soem on DvD? If so?hopes they will bring them back. Currently WM here has the first two seasons of Maverick on DvD. I bought them about a month before Garner passed away.

I havent seen Rockford in many many years and miss the series. I alsoloved the movies using the character too. His "father" Noah Beery Jr--passed away aroud 10 or so years ago. I loved the series more because he was a part of it.

I just looked ata few DvD prices on their online store--BOY ARE THEY EXPENSIVE!!!!! Guess ill stay with my DvD sources in collecting more seasons of the shows im collecting. I AINT,paying nea $50 bucks for a season of Maverick or other-when I can find them for $10-$25 or more cheaper elsewhere.

Id have posted more but, had the stomach flu-------

Jesse Hayden to Maverick:
"You Maveriks are galvanized Yankees."

Bret:
"Move and ill blow you off of that saddle."

Another snip between the two:
Jesse Hayden:
"Your hangin yourself Bret."

Bret:
"Better than lettin strangers do it."

The more I watch of the series, the more i love it. I had never seen any original maverick episodes before buying these--with the exception of the later sason ones--and not many of those.
