Was able to put 2 mags of 40 in a 2.5 inch circle at 7 yds. So much for the heavy trigger making you inaccurate. Accurate enough for me :)

Good Grief Man! How many pistols have you bought in the last couple of weeks?

Congrats on being able to get your Sigma to bend to your will.

I agree that the Sigma is a very user friendly gun. I got mine just because of the deal S&W was offering (ok, that's an excuse but it works :D ) and I'm very happy with it.

LOL .. got the sigma back about 10 weeks back .. I mean ... I think I held out really long before getting another gun! :)

Got a 9 sigma in trade a few weeks before that and liked it enough to buy a 40. I polised up the sear and LIKED the heavy trigger but I was no where near as accurate as I was with my XD.

I just knew with some practice I would be. Gun has been my CCW now since after the first 200 rds.

I did dry fire alot .. to keep those sights from moving around .. even did the old lets put a coin on the end of the barrel and dry fire.

I picked this up I would like to share. If you dry fire alot Its so nice to easily tell when the gun is loaded or not.

I have to be doing something terribly wrong with my Sigma 40VE. I dry fire, and have also used the coin trick when doing so, and the coin doesn't move a hair. I take it to the range and I'm 8-12" low on most every shot. I've got maybe 500 rounds through it at this point. :(

That said, minutes after blowing the crotch out of a silhouette, I can switch to a Makarov and shred the heart on it.

My next step is to get grip (Pachmayr grip glove or a Hogue Handall) to see if that helps. Will also consider a rest to steady it, just to make sure it isn't me moving around.

Without seeing you shoot .. I would swear you were anticipating. but if your an experienced shooter then I don't know what that could be. If you nest your hand up high in that niche on the sigma that sucker almost always goes to point.

My issue was because of the heavy trigger I was sticking to much finger on the trigger and I was shooting left. Once i polished the sear and did all the dry fire I am hitting nice and accurate.

Did you get the 40 and is that a caliber you are familiar with? I have handed my 40's to people that shoot mostly 9 and there was definitely some anticipation and these are also dyed in the wool gun guys.

I got a slip over grip from Hogue IIRC and it seemed to help. I too was shooting the crotch out at 15-20yds.
Still shooting a little low/left with my .40 but my groups are consistent at 10yds (about 4")

Forgot to mention brooks tactital as a grip sleeve for the Sigma.

I do have the 40. My primary pistol experience is with Makarovs, which I'm very comfortable and accurate with. I've shot some 1911s before, and I am decent with those, though I won't win any competitions.

I think you may be right on the anticipation part. I don't have a good sense of where it's going to break and I think that psyches me out sometimes, since I go to the range with my Sigma thinking, "I hope I don't shoot low again today!". I've altered finger placement on the trigger, but haven't had that "Ah ha!" moment yet.

I'm going to try a grip and dry fire as much as possible.

Thanks for the feedback!

I shoot mine and i have no problem hitting my spot. I shoot it as well as i ever did with my Glock which i no longer own.

Blowing the crotch out will stop anything...

Just remember, the sights on the Sigma are dead on, not 6 o'clock. I was shooting low at first too. I was flinching too but got over that.

MOC (minute of can)

When my sons and I go out to grandpa's 'ranch' and shoot, we place cans on top of each other and try to shoot one off of the top of the other. The point is that we can tell pretty much how close we are. Our practice is at 15 and 25 yds. Except for the odd winger, we can hit all around the can when we do not actually strike, and this is +/- 4-6" at 25 yds. As for ammo, it is usually Federal 115gr FMJ.

I was low the first could times at the range with my sigma 9mm. I Go back to the shooting basics and I bet you will improve your shot. I would suggest another couple boxes of ammo and droping to a nutral postion betwen shots to refocus, old breath, look at the barrel dot and slow squeeze, not a jerk on the trigger with the first pad of your finger.

Good luck (start with the target closer, then move it back)
