NOW if we could only have Charlton Heston rather than Ted Nugent!

I'm not a big fan of Ted but guys like him have a following of
fans and that kind of balances his attitudes. The country singers
have lots of fans, so do NASCAR guys and movie stars. Any one
who is on our side should be appreciated. What ever happened
to Hank, he's been awful quiet since the Monday Night Football
deal. We need all the help we can get, draft dodgers or not, our
govt is full of draft dodgers. Our education system has been
taken over by the draft dodgers of Vietnam. I don't know the
circumstances of Teds " Draft Dodging" so I won't through any
stones. I don't hold it against guys that lucked out and didn't
have to go. Thousands got out because of student deferments,
medical conditions, ect. I was there, so what. The ones that
make me mad are people like Bill Ares that are now heroes to
a lot of snowflakes after getting away with draft dodging and
murder.

Sorry, but Ted is an American hero and icon.

We must be as careful and articulate with the defense of our rights as are those who would take them from us.
Remember "Pogo" by Walt Kelly? "We have met the enemy and he is us."
Let's avoid this snare.

WHOEVER WROTE THAT STATEMENT???

I can't disagree with it. I see 1 higher profile person all the time with much worse public speaking skills. He has a bad comb over. If only Magnum had taken the torch from Moses.

Love him or hate him, he said what we all need to repeat over and over-the NRA has nothing to do with any unlawful, unethical or immoral use of a firearm. They never have and never will represent anyone but law abiding firearms owners. To allow the press or any individual to align the NRA in any way with evil doers is a grave error on our parts. We have nothing to do with any mass shooting, crime or misuse of a firearm and we have everything to do with lawful pursuit and enjoyment of shooting sports.
The NRA represents the law abiding firearm owner, period.

YOU WERE IN NAM???

Wasn't on my side or any military man's side during the Vietnam war.
I had the privilege of serving with American hero's.
And Nugent can't even be rated good enough to be a pimple on their buttocks.

WE GET IT. No need to remind us with every single post. Many others were there that DON'T have a need to remind us CONSTANTLY.

Ted and John Wayne: two big posers who proved their self absorbed cowardly hypocrisy. More nonsense from a guy who was a million miles beyond desperate to avoid military service. Turns my stomach.

Ps Cat Scratch Fever is still a great song.

I don't see why not. Every time the subject of Jane Fonda comes up, forum members hoot and holler about her for days and days. Nugent is no different, far as I'm concerned. He's fair game, a term he should appreciate.

His membership on the NRA Board of Directors cuts absolutely no ice with me, either. His obscenity-laden tirades against anyone he deems less of a "real man" or a "true American" than he is do not present a really positive representative image of the NRA to a public that doesn't know any better. Personally, I don't want to be painted with the same brush as Ted Nugent.

But also bear in mind that he is a rock star. Exactly the kind of person who might reach these brain dead kids who ignore history and worship celebrities. ;)

Not any more, he isn't. Ted Nugent is so far removed from the kids of 2018 and their music, he may as well be on another planet.

His remaining audience may still consist of pockets of midwestern teenage boy metal head bangers

...and maybe some oldsters who can still remember the lyrics to such classics

as Cat Scratch Fever...but that's about it.

Alas, poor Ted. Out of his time and way out of his depth.

Just like the way Nugent reminds his fans and every reporter constantly how he is a red, white and true blue American hero who would of been killing everything, VC, NVA and everyone around him if he had been in the Army instead of wimping out, your right.

Check out his radio and video taped interviews in the early 70's.
Do you really think he is the one who should be beating down HS students and representing gun owners and the NRA?

Please forgive the redactions.

I don't see why not?

Because 1 persons glory days are simply not relevant to every thread. An official NG thank you for your service, atta boy,& pat on the back, go without saying.

Moving along to T.N.

" I don't want to be painted with the same brush as Ted Nugent."

And who would be?

"Alas, poor Ted. Out of his time."

His hey day in rock music is long past. Gone the way of 8 tracks etc. Some "golden oldie" fans (NOT ME, plenty of others from that time like Bob Seeger for example) & some new cult like fans do exist. As a political pundit/radio show host along the lines of Rush L, he may have a following. I wouldn't mind seeing a T.N. reboot of him in his Tarzan outfit swinging into a press meeting on a rope holding an AR. LOL.

Is T.N. a "bit" of a flamboyant attention seeking media (lady of Ill repute), YES (always has been), but he's not alone. To answer your last question. NO, not for me.

No man is perfect. No such thing as a perfect spokesman.

Would rather have him on the pro gun side than against as we need all the help we can get.

Who here is perfect and never screwed up in their youth? Will you be "our" next spokesperson?
