hijack alert!

Hey guys..leave your military bull sessions to a seperate post. This post was supposed to be about modding the trigger/hammer group. Thanks. Mike in TX

The M&P 15-22 may be "just a plinker", but I predict that in a short while the 15-22 will join the ranks of the Ruger 10-22 as one of the most "souped up" 22's ever. This from a new 15-22 owner and a Ruger Charger owner that has twice the original purchase price invested and worth every cent. Face it, we're all a bunch of junkies that just can't leave well enough alone. I haven't got to fire the 15-22 yet and already I'm drooling over what future upgrades will be offered.

Would you need to return your trigger to OEM if you have to send it in for warranty repair?

i ordered new trigger and hammer springs to modify so i could leave the stock springs alone in case of a return. i doubt s&w will notice i polished the sear/hammer interface.

the extra springs are cheap (about 3 bucks).

I totally agree. Wonder which company will be first with aftermarket barrels?

I took my Rock River 2 stage out and put the OEM trigger back in when my 15-22 took the FedEx ride.

realistically, a $450 plinker isnt really worth buying a aftermarket trigger for.

I strongly disagree, that's the beauty of this forum. If I get my way, my 'plinker' will see 5,000 to 10,000 rounds this year. I've only had it two weeks and it's over 1,000 rounds already and I missed a planned range visit during that period.
I want the satisfaction of a great action on every gun I shoot. Why should this one be different just because it costs less than my competition guns? JP trigger kit is on the way!

either way really.. it comes down to what makes you happy.

for you a JP trigger does the trick. for me, getting close to the same results for free makes me happy! :D

The Rock River 2-stage trigger I pirated from one of my other rifles shot very well in the M&P 15-22. Before I bought another one for this trainer I did the "15 Minute AR15 Trigger Job" and while it's inferior to the 2-stage it's not that much inferior to spend another $120! :)

Reports are showing up that S&W is fitting different springs to current production rifles. Marked in Blue. But no announced differences.

300+ rounds thru the modified-trigger rifle last Sunday with no hiccups. Good solid primer strikes. Good cycling.

I can beat your 36 hours! I installed a JP trigger in mine within an hour of getting m7 15-22 home. This is a gun that I will be shooting a lot so why not have a good trigger on it? Same goes for optics, why put a cheap little chinese knock off on the gun you will shoot the most? I put a Leupold Mark AR 3-9X on mine and as soon as the Feds approve me it will have a YHM suppresor on it also.
